I didn’t sleep well that night — no wonder, because I couldn’t get that conversation with Victoria out of my mind. It wasn’t that she’d said anything of any particular import. It was more that I shouldn’t have been able to say anything to her at all. Why had I seen a ghost — spoken to a ghost — now?
