Chapter 5
January 16th
With nothing to do for the day, I headed straight to the casino to surprise Banner.
He and his mother stayed for dinner with us the other night, which is when I learned his father had a heart attack a few hours after I returned his coat. It explained everything as he had left the next morning to join his parents in London after his mother called him, where his father died from congestive heart failure a mere two days after his arrival.
If I were him, I wouldn’t have worried about messaging me at all in the middle of such a crisis, let alone the one time he did. So, I’m grateful he took the time to respond that once, even if it left me clueless as to what really went on.
