Chapter 20: "Swift Victory" Xiao, now empowered by the spirit stones, charged back into battle with a fierce determination. His opponents, the sect members, sneered at him, thinking him no match for their combined strength. But Xiao's new abilities proved them wrong. With a swift and deadly precision, Xiao struck down his enemies one by one, his daggers slicing through the air with an ethereal glow. His movements were so swift, so graceful, that his opponents barely had time to react before they fell to the ground, defeated. The battle that had once been so intense, so chaotic, was now a swift and decisive victory for Xiao. He fought with a calm and collected demeanor, his new powers allowing him to anticipate and counter every attack with ease. In mere minutes, the sect members lay defeated, their weapons scattered across the ground. Xiao stood tall, his chest heaving with a slow, steady breath, his eyes gleaming with a newfound confidence. Lie Ren and Qián Chén, who had been fighting their own battles, turned to Xiao with a mix of shock and admiration. "Xiao, your powers have grown exponentially!" Lie Ren exclaimed. Qián Chén nodded in agreement. "You've surpassed us all, Xiao. Your abilities are now truly formidable." Xiao smiled, his eyes shining with a quiet pride. "The spirit stones have granted me new strength. I will use it to protect our sect and our friends." Together, the three disciples stood victorious, their bond and determination proving stronger than any enemy. The market, once a scene of chaos and destruction, was now a testament to their unity and power. As the reality of the situation sank in, the townspeople's initial gratitude towards the disciples for defeating the sect members began to turn into anger and resentment. Their livelihoods, their goods, and their businesses were gone, and they blamed the trio for the destruction. The crowd began to grow restless, their murmurs turning into chants, their voices rising in unison. "Fight them to death! Punish them for our losses!" they shouted, their faces twisted in rage. The disciples, taken aback by the sudden turn of events, tried to reason with the crowd. "We didn't mean to cause such destruction! We were only trying to protect the town!" Lie Ren pleaded, but his words fell on deaf ears. The crowd surged forward, their fists clenched, their eyes blazing with fury. The disciples found themselves surrounded, the townspeople closing in on them like a tidal wave. Qián Chén drew his sword, its blade glinting in the sunlight. "We mean no harm, but we will defend ourselves if necessary!" Xiao cracked his knuckles, his eyes flashing with determination. "We'll protect ourselves, but we won't harm the innocent!" Lie Ren stood firm, his eyes locked on the crowd. "We'll find a way to make it right, but please, don't force us to fight you!" But the crowd would not be swayed. Their anger and frustration had reached a boiling point, and they would not rest until they had exacted their revenge on the trio. The disciples braced themselves for the impending battle, their hearts heavy with the knowledge that they would have to fight the very people they had sworn to protect.
