Nathan's POV Another day, another busy work. He was still in the office when he heard his phone ringing . He picked it up, answering without looking at who was calling. “Hello?” he asked cautiously. “Come to my office ASAP, I need to tell you something ,” said his manager on the phone. His brows rose a little as he turned away from the computer screen and headed towards the front door of the office. “Sure thing Sir. I’ll be there soon.” With that, he hung up and walked out of his office. It took no time for him to get to the elevator. He hit the button marked ‘up’ and rode all the way to the top floor. Once the elevator doors opened, he walked down the hall. He took one step, then two, and finally three until he arrived at the manager’s office. He knocked and the opened the door to find him sitting behind his desk, hands folded on top of it, eyes locked on his. “Ah, good! You made it. Take a seat, please,” his manager told him. He sat on the chair opposite the older man. “What is it Sir?” he questioned warily. They remained silent for a moment before the senior sighed and said, “I’m sorry this is happening again so soon,” began the man. He paused briefly before continuing. “ The other branch needs you there in 2 weeks. So all you're things need to be packed by next week. It's better that you are going there early so that you can find an apartment or house you can live in." his manager said. He didn't say anything after he'd finished, giving him time to think about what had been said. After he'd thought, he looked up and gave a small nod. "Is there anything else?" he asked. His manager shook his head and stood, walking around the desk and standing in front of him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Take care, and don't hesitate to let me know if you need any help with moving out and getting settled. " said his manager. He nodded again. “Good luck,” his manager added. With that, he turned on his heel and left, shutting the door behind him. He stood for a second longer before heading back into his office. ----------- He woke up to his alarm blaring. Groaning slightly, he got up from his bed. He put on some shorts, a tshirt and a hoodie before heading downstairs to start the coffee maker. Once it was done, he grabbed himself a mug, filling it with coffee and adding milk and sugar. He drank his coffee slowly. This was the day that he is going to the main city. He was excited, but also nervous. This was going to be the start of his new life, hopefully the best one he had ever had. It will take almost two hours to get there, and he wanted to be awake enough for that. Once the coffee was gone, he then prepared his breakfast . Bacon, eggs and toast. He ate quickly before starting to put all his things on the car. When he was done, he went back upstairs, getting ready. He changed clothes, brushed his teeth and styled his hair. Finally, he was ready. Grabbing his car keys, he exited the house, locking the door behind him. He checked the address once more of the hotel where he will be temporarily staying until he finds an apartment or house to live and make sure he had gotten it correct. He did. Taking one final look around his old apartment, he headed to the garage where he started the car. He drove out of his apartment complex and began his drive towards his destination. After arriving at the hotel, he checked in, signed all the papers and was given a key card so he would be able to enter whenever he wished. He pulled out the list from yesterday and started to read through it one more time. He found a couple apartments and a house listed which he would like to try. That evening, he went to sleep and slept well, only waking up twice throughout the night. The first time he woke up to the sound of his alarm going off. He shut it off and set the alarm. He then fell asleep again. The second time he woke up was to his alarm going off five times more, telling him it was time to wake up.Groggily, he rolled off the bed and went to the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face. He went out after to have breakfast. He saw a coffee shop close to his hotel and decided he would go get some coffee and whatever breakfast food they have. As he entered the coffee shop, he saw an ID dropped from a girl's table by the window. Picking up the ID, he studied it. There was a picture of a girl he seems to be very familiar with. Then he looked at the name and instantly confirmed who she was. He approached the table and slid the ID onto the table. The girl turned her head, revealing her mid-length black wavy hair . Her grey eyes seemed to brighten up upon seeing him. He gave her a soft smile as she stood up . "Nathan? " She asked. Elise's POV It felt good to be outside, even if she did have to push aside people as she headed down the street. She walked over to her usual coffee shop in her neighbourhood, it was her day off, so she figured she could take this time to relax a bit before getting to the work the next day. She entered the shop with a little more bounce than usual. She hadn't been feeling particularly energetic today and decided to just treat herself to a nice long walk to blow off some steam. The familiar smell of coffee reached her nose as she went into the cafe and took a seat at one of the round tables by the window. The view outside always had something special about it for her. It was a clear blue sky that allowed for perfect visibility without blocking anything out from above. Even in the middle of the afternoon you could still see a few clouds passing across. She closed her eyes as the sun shone upon her face. She' d missed this feeling. Being outside when it wasn't freezing cold or raining didn't matter. She'd missed the peace of mind it brought her. As she sat there she started feeling better than usual. The warmth of the cafe helped calm her worries and made her feel less tense. She could feel her shoulders relaxing, her hands no longer clenched together. Her legs stretched out underneath the table, giving her an excuse not to move and avoid having to sit any straighter. She felt like she was drifting off into a peaceful sleep when A soft tap on the table. She saw a hand putting her ID on the table. Looking up, she saw a familiar man standing in front of her. It was her classmate from highschool. The same boy who she'd been in love in high school. His dark hair fell into his eyes and he seemed to be more broader and handsome than before. But it was unmistakably him. "Nathan?" she asked. This was definitely Nathan. He looked surprised that she knew his name, but smiled nonetheless. "Hey, how have you been?" she continued. "I haven't seen you since graduation." she offered him the seat opposite her. He accepted, taking a seat opposite her at the small table. They stayed silent while they sipped on their coffees until he spoke. "So what brings you here?" Nathan said. "My house is just around the corner, so I decided to get some breakfast here. " she replied. "That's amazing!" Nathan exclaimed. "So you must've moved away from home." "Well I guess it feels like home now." she responded softly. "By the way, what brings you here?" she asked. "Oh I was transferred here because of work," Nathan replied. "I just got here yesterday to be honest" he added. "What do you do for a living again ?" she asked. "I'm a nurse," Nathan told her. "Wow! That's pretty cool, you got your dream job!" she replied, smiling brightly at him. "Ehemm, how about you? What do you do for a living? " Nathan asked. "I'm a Doctor." she explained. "A General Internal Medicine doctor to be exact , but I also handle surgery on occasion too." "Wow. You are really talented aren't you." Nathan remarked. Her face flushed red and she lowered her gaze to look at the table. "Oh I don't know about that…" she muttered. "But thanks anyway." "You shouldn't doubt yourself so much," Nathan insisted. "You were amazing as a student. And you've grown into such a beautiful woman." he said. The words struck her deeply. She couldn't believe that he thought she was beautiful despite how short she was now. The compliment gave her butterflies in her stomach which made her want to squirm in her seat. "Thanks", she managed to reply. "I guess we all learn our lessons well." she added. "How old are you right now?" she changed the subject hoping that things would go to normal soon. "Twenty seven years old." Nathan answered. She gasped and raised her head, staring at him wide eyed. He looked exactly the same as he did when they were teenagers. There were only a few noticeable differences, like the fact that he seemed to have gained muscle and had lost most of the baby fat that he once carried. "So, how does it feel being twenty seven instead of seventeen years?" she joked. Nathan rolled his eyes at her. "What can I say. Hey, we are literally the same ." Nathan replied. They both laughed and spent the rest of the morning catching up. The conversation kept going from topics to topics, sometimes ending up somewhere else altogether.
