11 Last time Dex had taken this journey, he’d been by himself—Izzy hadn’t come up to his parents’ until after Christmas—and pissed off at the whole entire world. It had been grey out, misty, cold. Not even the Cotswolds looked good in December. You had to go farther up north to get to the pretty parts. Scotland, probably. At least Scotland got proper snow. Now, though, it was sunny, once they’d left London behind. Nick sat across from him, his face a picture of wonder and curiosity, nose practically smearing the window.
