Surprise

980 Words
For five days straight, Nixie had been battling a relentless wave of nausea, her face growing paler and her energy dwindling. Yet, she insisted nothing was wrong. "I've had enough of this," Cass declared, his voice firm as he watched her hurl her breakfast into a bucket she'd hidden beside the bed. He rubbed her back. "I don't care what you say, I'm calling the physician." "No!" Nixie begged, trying to sound convincing but failing miserably. "I'm not sick, I'm fine!" "No, you are not!" Cass retorted. Nixie sighed, wiping her face with a cloth. She took Cass's hands, looking up into his intense gaze. "I just want to start by saying that I wanted to wait longer to tell you, but I clearly can't hide it any longer." She bit her lip, took a deep breath, and then a smile spread across her face. "I'm with child." Cass was stunned. "What? But the herbs?" Nixie laughed. "I stopped taking them last month. I'd hoped to get pregnant for our anniversary, but it seems your seed is very strong." It had only taken two weeks after stopping the herbs for her to know. "You planned this?" Cass was amazed. "Yes, I wanted to surprise you. I thought it'd make a good anniversary gift, but you had to go and spoil it," she teased. "I can't wait to meet our little one," Cass gushed, looking down at Nixie's belly. "It's going to be a while," Nixie chuckled. "Does anyone else know?" Cass wondered. "No, not even Millie." Nixie leaned in and kissed her mate slowly, savoring the moment. She hadn't expected to feel this excited. "I can't wait to tell everyone," Cass chuckled. "I can't wait for this morning sickness to be over," Nixie giggled as she lay back down in bed. "You should rest as much as you need to." He kissed her gently on the forehead. "We should wait a few months before announcing, just in case," Nixie warned Cass, but nothing could dampen his spirits. "I've got to go for now, but I'll see you tonight." Later that day, Millie came by. "Hey, how are you today?" "The same as yesterday," Nixie sighed, then a smile spread across her lips. "But I want to tell you something." She sat on the couch, waiting for Millie to join her. "Does it have to do with my brother's insufferable happiness?" Millie giggled. "Maybe, yes." Nixie laughed, imagining Cass's goofy grin. "I'm pregnant. I stopped taking the herbs on purpose. After what you said to me about knowing I'd be a good mother, I couldn't stop thinking about what it'll be like," Nixie admitted. "That would definitely explain Cass's goofy grin." Millie giggled, feeling a pang of sadness at not being the one to meet these milestones first, despite being the eldest sibling. "Don't worry, you'll find your mate soon," Nixie said, seeing her friend's worries in her eyes. "Don't let that dampen the mood. Let's talk about the baby!" Millie's eyes widened, her thoughts racing. "Are you hoping for a boy or girl? Tradition be damned." "I don't know, I'd like a girl, I think, but I wouldn't mind a boy." Nixie shrugged. "I hope they just have you and your brother's golden hair." "And your beautiful eyes," Millie teased. "Oh, but I do hope it's a girl, then we can dress her up for the balls and it'll be so much fun!" "You can still dress a boy up," Nixie reminded her. "Yes, but it's not the same." Millie rolled her eyes playfully. The two girls spent the rest of the day chattering about baby clothes, names, and what kind of cot the child should have. "Millie, I suspect you've been here all day. I believe it's time for you to go." Cass playfully ushered his sister out as soon as he arrived back at the Queen's suite. He swept Nixie into his arms and carried her to the bed, peppering her with kisses. "I've been thinking about you all day," he groaned, breathing in his mate's unique scent. He gently caressed her lower belly, imagining his child growing stronger each day. "I think my heart is going to burst," he sighed, looking up at his mate's giggling face. "Me too," she admitted. "I just hadn't wanted to let myself feel yet. I was worried that I wouldn't carry to term." Cass's brows raised in disbelief. "Why? You're young and healthy." "My mother," Nixie sighed wistfully. "Well, I think our little one will be perfectly strong and healthy." Cass kissed Nixie's belly before pulling her flush against him. "Is it wrong that you being with child makes me want you so much more?" he murmured into her hair. "No," Nixie bit her lower lip and stared up through her long lashes at her mate. Cass slowly, lovingly lowered his head and kissed Nixie, his tongue sweeping against hers as his hands wandered across the planes of her body. Nixie raked her nails gently across his skin, his arms and side, until she grasped his length. "You always know what I want." He groaned as he bucked against her. She ran her fingers across the ridge of his c**k and sighed, "I couldn't possibly put it in my mouth without throwing up." "Don't worry about that," Cass chuckled as he lay her beneath him on their bed. He ran a finger through her folds before slowly slipping two fingers, then three. "Damn it, Cass!" Nixie groaned. "I just want you inside me!" she complained. "I am," he teased as he watched her writhe under his touch, brushing his thumb over her c**t until she came on his hand. "I meant this," Nixie grabbed at his hardness again. "Well, all you had to do was ask, my love," Cass smirked as he slid himself into his hot, wet, and waiting mate.
