Nicole’ POV

She is beautiful and very sassy. I don’t know why I dint told her that I am the Don in the beginning. Her expression after Greg told her that I am the new Don is so hilarious. She just looked down and not said another word after that. If it is other clients, I would love to torture them a little more until they willingly cave in. But this is Claire, my so naive childhood forgotten best friend who think mafia money is easier to pay than borrowing some friends money or bank money. This is Claire and I know I will do anything to help her, so to save her in her embarrasses I introduce myself to her,

She did not look up so I extended my hands for her to shake but nothing.. I just offer her my hands to shake like a proper thing to do in business meeting but she hung me there. Is she really testing my patience? So instead of pulling my hands, I gently touch her chin to make her look at me.

I think it is not the best attitude for someone who owes a lot of money to be rude. Behave sweetie so that I will not need to teach you a lesson or two.

Damn her eyes is so mesmerizing. I need to keep my distance so I pick up my glass and drunk all the content in one swing. I know she is still looking at me but I need to set boundaries for myself. I asked her to follow me to my office so we can discuss business.

We enter in my office then in the meeting room. I ask her to sit down so we can start. First, I ask her if she read the contract before signing. She said she already know the content of the contract because her dad used to work in the mafia and he is the one who handled this kind of thing. She said that she knew how much interest, how much she needs to provide monthly and what are the consequences in failure to pay it.

Hm so it is safe to say that you sign without reading it?

This woman will get herself in a lot of trouble. Who in the right mind will sign any document without reading it first?

She tried to justify her action, by saying that she knew the contract and she knew the mafia’s rules.

Yes, you knew the mafia under my father’s reign. But I am the new leader now so there is a lot changes happened. Changes that you supposed to know if you attend the mandatory party in the villa.

But the party is for the mafia members only and I am not a member so technically I am not violating any rules. She said with confidence.

Your father was a mafia member and a boss so TECHNICALLY the privilege will be pass to you because you are the sole heir of his name. So now tell me, did you not attend the party on purpose or you did not sure if you’re a member or not?

She got something in her purse and it turn out that it is his father knife.

I want to return this to the mafia. It is my father’s knife and it is truly belonged here. I did not want the life that he has.

Why now? You had years of chance in returning it, why did you choose now? I asked

I tried several times to return it to Don Alfred but he is not having it. He said that this is my birth right so it is mine to keep. According to him my dad will not forgive him in his grave if I am eft alone with myself with no family to fall back too. But now that you are the new Don, I don’t see any reasons why you will refuse my father’s knife.

What makes you think that I am not sharing my father’s belief?

Because you and my dad had no history. We both know that uncle Alfred and my late father started the mafia. They were like brothers to each other. So, I understand if uncle Alfred refuse me returning the knife. But now that you are the new Don, I am hoping no I am begging you to accept this knife.

Are there any reasons why you are eagerly refusing your birth right? Do you know how lucky you are to have this kind of privileges? Most people will kill o have a spot in the Prez mafia but you… you just throw it away. So, tell me why instead of accepting the spot and the luxury with it that your father left for you, you choose to live a simple life, working more than one job just to get by, living in a rotten apartment. Dealing with bastard boss and pervert customers. Please enlighten me.

The mafia cause my family, my mom and dad are both gone because of the mafia. I am an orphan because of the mafia. I am alone because of the mafia. Now tell me, is it not enough reasons for me choosing not to be involve in the mafia?

Are you blaming the mafia for your parent death and are you seriously putting you being an orphan? My father offered to take care of you, to be legally adopted but you refused. Hell, you run away.

Yeah, I run away.  It supposed to be US running away. but I guess I can’t blame you. Who in the right mind will throw luxury life in exchange to the unknown future right? Ha... who am I kidding, we both know tat there is no future in us in running away. Is it smart of you to see it before it’s too late, but you should not rot me out. You should give me the chance to choose for my life.
