It's almost 7 PM, and my work at the cafe is almost done.
"Hey Liyora, can you do me a favor? Can you please empty the bins at the back before you go,"
Ms. Wilson asked me a last-minute favour.
I followed the usual routine, went to the narrow passage behind the cafe.
It was dark, and there weren't many streetlights.
When I put the bags in the bin and I was about to leave the bin area,
Someone came running down the narrow passage and bumped into me.
We both fell to the ground.
When I looked up, I recognized the kid from the café earlier today. He was still in his school uniform.
“Hey, are you okay?” I asked him in curiosity.
But he ignored me, he seemed scared, just looking outside the narrow passage like someone was chasing him.
Suddenly, he saw a man entering the passage, chasing him.
The boy tried to run, but the man caught him.
He held the boy against the cafe wall, twisting his hand, and kept asking,
"Where are they?"
It was the same blue-eyed stranger who had been looking at pictures of dead bodies in the cafe,
leaving in a hurry without eating his sandwich.
Now he's after this college student? But why?
The blue-eyed man threw a brutal punch at the boy,
leaving him on the ground with bloody lips.
In the dim light, it was clear that the man intended to hurt this innocent student.
I couldn't just stand there and do nothing.
"Stop! Don't hurt him! Leave him alone, or I'll call the police!"
I pleaded with the man, threatening to involve the police.
Strangely, the blue-eyed man just laughed and turned the question to the boy.
"Jems, do you want the police?"
"No, please don't call the police!" Jems begged, tears streaming down his face.
It was puzzling - he was being hurt, possibly in danger of being killed, and yet he didn't want the police to help?
That man began hitting James again,
Asking the same question over and over,
"Where are they?"
Seeing that, I felt completely helpless,
But then I spotted a wooden rod near the bin area. Without thinking much, I grabbed it.
"Enough is enough!" I said loudly and struck the back of the man,
Causing him to fall.
Jems seized the opportunity, thanked me abruptly, and ran away.
The tense atmosphere slowly faded away,
I checked on the man; he had only fainted. He looked surprisingly calm,
which was quite different from the earlier chaos.
Just like he was peacefully sleeping. There was a bit of blood on his head,
but he still seemed charming and handsome.
For some reason, I just didn't feel right to leave him alone in this state.
A strange sense of responsibility took over, telling me I had to do something.
Quickly, I called for an ambulance to come help him.
I realized – I had just done something big by saving a student from a dangerous person.
The weight of the situation stuck with me as I went home, a mix of feelings swirling inside me.
I knew I had stepped in during a really serious moment and ended up on the side of doing the right thing.

In a world where you stand strong,
Not all dreams sing your song.
Tolerate the flaws, dance through the day,
In others' deeds, carve your own way.
The world's not empty, it's your sight,
Paints each moment, dark or bright.
See it with hope, banish the gloom,
Your perspective blooms in every room.

A Day of Unforeseen Twists
As the morning sun painted the sky,
I set foot in Merry Hill High School. My bag was packed, but inside,
my emotions were doing cartwheels as I made my way back to those welcoming gates.
Every step closer to the school felt like stepping into a world of endless possibilities.
I thought about the people I might meet, friends I could make, and the teachers I'd get to know.
I was curious and a bit nervous, wondering what this new time would bring—new lessons,
surprises, and perhaps meeting great friends.
As I entered the high school midway through the semester,
it was evident that all eyes turned towards the new arrival—me.
Their curious glances followed my every move, leaving me feeling like the centre of attention.
I hurried through the school's twisty hallways, trying hard to find the admin office.
I was so focused that I didn't see the crash coming!
My admission Papers flew everywhere when I accidentally bumped into someone.
When I looked up,I met a friendly face, I saw one girl,
the same age as mine, she repeatedly said sorry and started collecting my papers.
Hey it's okay… i said
She gave me my all papers,
"Hi, I'm Cristina," she said with a warm smile.
“Hey, hi, I'm Liyora” i answered her.
"Are you new here? Seems like you might need a tour. Want me to help?" she offered.
Em yeah, i was looking for an admin office, wanted to submit my admission papers. I said
Grateful for the offer, I gladly accepted Cristina's assistance.
Navigating through the confusing school corridors,
Cristina showed me the administrative office.
There, I provided my information to the secretary, feeling a wave of relief wash over me.
As I sorted out the formalities.
and as we walked, we started chatting. Amidst our conversation,
Cristina shared a high school tidbit—an intriguing piece of information about a
certain Science teacher who seemed to have captured the attention of every girl in the school.
"Mr. Matthews," Cristina teased, a mischievous glint in her eye.
"He's the Most handsome and young Science teacher here,
and let me tell you, every girl in this school has a little crush on him, including me"
Turns out, we're both in his classes.
My curiosity was piqued at the mention of this mysterious teacher.
Images formed in my mind, fueled by Cristina's words,
and I found myself eager to learn more about Mr. Matthews,
wondering what made him so captivating to the female students.
Walking to Science class with Cristina, Mr. Matthews hasn't arrived yet.
I chose a back seat near the window.
Of course, Cristina sits beside me. In a few moments, the whole class goes silent.
I notice that Mr. Matthews has come; he's facing the board and writing something.
Cristina suggests I open the history book to chapter number 5.
I do the same, and Mr. Matthews begins calling attendance,
saying the names of students.
Wait a moment, that voice, I recognize it, strong and husky.
I look straight towards him.
Suddenly, it hits me like a surprise – the man that blue eye man,
I met on Saturday evening is actually my Science teacher Mr. Matthews,
the same person I hit to save another student.
His eyes were still the same blue, and he talked in that husky voice I recognized.
But this time, he wasn't in his usual black hoodie.
Instead, he was wearing a clean white shirt and brown pants.
What surprised me even more was the bandage on his head, exactly where I had hit him.
It was unexpected to see him dressed in a new way,
and the bandage brought back memories of our earlier clash.
How can this person become a teacher?
A wave of disappointment washes over me,
and my heart sinks like a heavy stone.
Cristina pokes me, and I come to my senses.
Mr. Matthews was calling out my name for attendance.
I raise my hand abruptly and give him my attendance.
He also saw me, and we exchanged disappointed looks.
I also wasn't thrilled to see him again.
Having a criminal as a teacher is not something I want.
How did the school hire him?
I found myself silently cursing my luck.
The thought of more interactions with this stern, grumpy,
The mysterious man was not something to look forward to. Instead of excitement,
It felt more like preparing for what might come, a bit like bracing myself for a storm.
I tried to stay calm, ready to face whatever encounters with this mystery man, Mr. Matthews lay ahead.
