Emaya pressed her eyes shut.
“HOW DARE YOU STAY LATE OUTSIDE!” His voice rose hysterically.
Before she knew it, his heavy palm smacked her cheek, leaving behind a stinging pain.
Emaya abruptly looked up in a shock, her hand pressed on her cheek, mouth agape.
“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU LOOKING AT!” He lifted his large hand to slap her again.
It was too late for Emaya to move as the slap landed directly onto her face, sending her to the floor.
“WHERE WERE YOU HOEING AROUND AT THIS TIME!” His loud voice was stern with no vestige of sympathy in its hardness.
Emaya’s body grew tense to the point of terribly shaking as she tried to speak in a suffocated whisper, “No-... I wasn’t-”
