My first day here in the Philippines had proven to be my worst nightmare. I was currently standing under the shower. I let my emotions wash off of my body along with the water. I loved the feel of water on my body…
I had just hoped for the evening to go in bliss. I had already enough for the day, but my fate had other intentions…
The events of the evening flashed by as I closed my eyes…
Flashback of the evening…
Everyone started clapping and raising their glasses to join the toast, awed by the wedding news.
I had expected this but not so soon…I can’t take this… I can’t breathe… I need fresh air…
I found a corner at the far end of the terrace where there was no one. I had champagne to accompany me… I needed no one, I told myself repeatedly, but my eyes won’t listen…
“Hey beautiful,” I was startled by the unknown voice. I turned to find a man, probably in early twenties, staring at me.
“Hi,” I said.
“Why are you here all alone? Doesn’t your boyfriend realize that someone would steal you from him in just a matter of minutes?” he said.
I chucked.
“I wish I had one.”
“Hey, you’re crying…Are you ok? You look disturbed…”
“Yeah I’m alright. Just… some memories,” I said wiping my tears.
“Here,” he said offering me his handkerchief.
“Thanks but it’s fine,” I declined
“By the way, I'm Paul, Paul Walter.”
I looked at him with a questioning look. Walter?
“I’m Richard’s half brother,” he offered.
“Oh…okay! I’m Ivy.”
“Ivy, nice name. Have we met before?”
“Trust me its cliché. Try something new.”
“No, I seriously meant it. I’ve heard your name somewhere. Ivy Makrow, right?”
I looked at him amused. As far as I can remember, I didn’t mention my last name.
“I didn’t know I had a stalker,” I said giving him a half smile.
He chuckled in response.
“Trust me I didn’t know either.”
“No s**t Sherlock. Now tell me how you knew my name.”
“I seriously don’t know. I have heard of it before, but can’t make out. I’m trying hard to remember,” He said pretending to think hard.
“Ok fine. Don’t tell me. Whatever,” I said irritated.
“By the way can I have the honor of having a dance with you?”
I thought for a second. I wasn’t in the mood to dance. But I had to take my mind off Rihaan, so I finally gave in.
“Sure”
We went to the dance floor where the lights were dimmed. Couples danced everywhere. We started dancing.
“You won’t tell, right?” I said breaking the silence.
“What’s the fun in that?”
“Ahh”
“If I could, I wouldn’t be having you in my arms right now sweetheart.”
“Cliché, again”
“Oh god! What does it take to impress you, may I ask?”
“Nope.” I said popping the p.
“So stubborn.”
“Look who’s saying.”
He sighed.
“I didn’t know Rachel’s assistant was so obstinate.”
“I didn’t know Rihaan’s brother was so hard-headed.”
I froze as I just realized what I had just slipped. He froze too, looking straight into my eyes. There was no emotion on his face.
I quickly recovered and said, “I gotta go.”
Before he could react, I was out of his grasp.
