Flynn
"Are you alright Flynn?" Jake whispered under his breath to me as we finished up warrior training. I thought I had been better at hiding it. I just hadn't been able to concentrate. All I could think about was Lilah's bright green eyes and her long brown hair flying around her as she dribbled the soccer ball through the cones. I shook my head. I needed to pull myself together. This isn't the first pretty girl I have met, so why am I so obsessed?! My Dad is going to be pissed if he thinks I half-arsed training.
"Yea sorry, just a bit distracted." I replied, shrugging my shoulders. Jake nods his head.
I wonder what Lilah is doing right now? Jett ponders. I scold him. Something is up with him. He usually isn't this obsessed with girls. In fact, he is usually the one scolding me.
"Are you planning on going to the party this weekend?" Jake asked while packing his bag. "All of the seniors are going." He continued.
"Who's party is it again?" I asked.
"Kellan's. I am pretty sure his parents are away with your Dad for some pack stuff." Jake explained. Makes sense. My dad, the Alpha of Red Shadow Pack, did mention he was traveling to a distant Pack to consult them about something. He usually takes a few of his warriors with him, which explains why Kellan's warrior parents would be out of town too.
"Right. Yea I might go." I reply, throwing my bag over my shoulder and starting to walk back to my car. "I'll see you at school tomorrow." I yell out when I am a few meters away from him. Jake just waved his hand while shoving his jumper into his backpack.
*ding* *ding*
My phone chimes on my desk beside me. This homework is killing me. Literally anything would be a welcome distraction right now.
Emma: What cha doin?
I roll my eyes. This wasn't the distraction I had in mind. I really screwed myself the other weekend by giving her my attention.
I put my phone back on the desk, ignoring her text, and continue doing my biology homework.
I wonder if Lilah is doing her homework too? Those green eyes focusing on the paper... Jett starts. I feel my body starting to get hot just thinking about her. Her tanned, toned legs running through the drill today. Her perfectly proportioned body in those gym shorts and shirt. I feel my pants getting uncomfortable and have to readjust to make room. What on earth is going on with me?!
It's Lilah. Jett answers me. I slump in my chair running my hands through my hair.
*ding* *ding*
My phone distracts me again.
Emma: Want me to come around? ;)
I sigh.
She could be an easy distraction? I suggest to Jett.
Don't do it! Jett warns me. I know he is right but she is just so available. I fight the urge.
Want to go for a run, Jett? I ask, knowing the answer before I've even asked the question.
Jett doesn't even have to reply, I can feel his excitement straight away.
I walk out into my backyard. I open the gate in the back fence leading to the bush. Our pack housing backs onto a large reserve where wolves can run without the risk of being seen by humans. The reserve runs around the entirety of our pack lands, ensuring it is easily accessible to all pack members. I strip down and place my clothes on the tree branch. Last time I forgot to take my clothes off and ripped them up my Mum was furious. I won't be making the same mistake again.
I few minutes later, I feel the familiar c***k and pop of my bones changing and moving. Jett is taking over. Pretty soon he is in full form, tall and strong. His thick black fur covering every inch of him. I can feel his power immediately.
Where do you want to go? I ask him, enjoying letting Jett take over and just swapping roles for a while.
Jett starts running. I don't know where in particular, but I enjoy the feeling of the wind running through his fur and the light spattering of rain cooling him. His heavy breathing is almost rhythmic along with the padding sound of his paws pounding the dirt below us.
Jett is having the best time, darting between trees, chasing a few rabbits, jumping over the stream and howling.
Suddenly we stop, I don't usually run to this part of the pack. This is unusual for Jett. I can see someone in the distance ahead, they are walking back through the bushes to the houses on the other side. It doesn't take me long to release who it is.
Lilah.
What are we doing here, Jett? I demand, worried that I will look like a crazy stalker if i am caught.
She wont even know who we are... Jett responds, slightly agitated. She doesn't know what I look like! He added. He is right, Lilah is new to the pack, she wouldn't know what my wolf looked like. I don't even think she has attended a pack event yet.
Jett just paces around the trees watching her. Her long dark hair, damp from the misty air. She has incredibly short shorts on and a baggy t-shirt. I groan my approval at the sight.
This is not going to help my distracted situation. I sigh to Jett. He just chuckles.
Lilah had disappeared back through the bushes. I fought with Jett not to follow her.
Eventually he turned and ran back the way we came.
