Lilah
The school week had been, thankfully, uneventful. I had managed to dodge Emma most of the time and spent my lunchtimes sitting with Monica, Ally, Pete, and Sam. Monica and Ally were thrilled to hear I was being forced to attend Kellan's party this weekend. I was not excited, but it didn't seem so horrible knowing some friends would be there too.
Ally had already decided that she would come over during the day so we could get ready together, then go home for dinner and meet back at the party.
I had never done the 'party' thing before, not even at my old pack.
Emma was sitting at the kitchen bench waiting for me on Saturday morning.
"We need to talk." She said bluntly. I felt a chill run down my spine.
She gestured for me to sit on the stool opposite her. I did as instructed.
"Tonight." She took a deep breath before continuing, "We do not know each other, capeiche? Our parents are not mates. I did not bring you and you most definitely aren't friends with my friends. Got it?" She crossed her arms across her chest, indicating that she had finished.
"Fine." I nodded. I didn't want to be out with her anyway, Ally and Monica will be there regardless.
"Even when we get there, I will walk in and you can wait fifteen minutes before you enter." She added.
Who does she think she is?! Violet complained. I sighed.
I know, but let's be honest... do I really want to hang out with her anyway? I question. I can tell Violet agrees.
"Well, that's sorted then!" Emma pushed her stool back and walked off, nose in the air.
"I guess I'll push your chair back in..." I muttered under my breath as she walked out.
I glanced at the clock. 9:00AM. Ally is coming at 10 so I should probably shower and get myself sorted.
Ally knocked on the door at 10:00am on the dot. Mum answered the door.
"Hi Mrs Lilah's Mum, I am Ally!" Ally chirped when mum opened the door.
"Hi Ally, please call me Sarah." Mum smiled before showing Ally into the lounge room.
I walked down the stairs to meet her.
"Lilah!" Ally almost yelled out of excitement. "I love your house!" She complimented.
"Mum did a lot of decorating when we arrived." I laughed. Mum chuckled too. "It was a bit of a man-cave before we came. I almost feel sorry for Emma." I giggle.
Almost, but not really. Violet adds.
"Mancave?!" Darren calls out from the kitchen, clearly listening to our conversation.
"I'm sorry, my love, but its very true." Mum laughs.
"Well, we have a lot to do!" Ally looped her arm through mine and looked me in the eyes, "Where is your bedroom?"
"Ahhh, right down here..." I led her up the stairs in the direction of my room.
"I'll bring some snacks up later!" Mum called out from behind us.
We walked into the room and shut the door behind us.
"You're Mum and Step-dad seem really nice!" Ally complimented as she laid a massive makeup case onto my desk.
"They are." I smiled.
"Pity your step-sister is a cow." She said flatly. I couldn't help the laugh that bubbled up.
I like this girl. Violet stated.
"So, have you decided what you are wearing?" Ally asked me.
"I have no idea...." I muttered, opening up my wardrobe. Ally pushed me out of the way and started rummaging through my clothes.
I sat on my bed, listening to Ally 'oooh' and 'aaahhh' when she found something she liked.
"Now, you know it is a beach party, right?" Ally held up a pair of shorts in the mirror.
"Ummm, nope!" I stuttered nervously. Sounds like a rough start for my first party.
"Where is your swimwear?" Ally looked at me expectantly. I looked over to the drawer in my tallboy that held my swimmers. Ally pretty much ran over to it.
"This is it!" Ally squealed. I looked around my room, pretty much every single item of clothing i owned was either on the floor, on my bed or thrown somewhere.
"Now, time for hair and make up!" Ally jumped on the spot, clapping her hands.
What felt like hours later, Ally had poked and prodded, pulled and plumped. We watched a movie while getting ready so it took a bit longer than usual. I looked in the mirror. I had to say, I was impressed.
Who is that shewolf?! Violet said, She looks fire!
I have never seen myself look like this, I commented.
Ally had curled the ends of my long hair into waves. She had put on some light foundation that still showed my freckles and some mascara that made my eyelashes look fake. I had some ripped denim shorts with my purple bikini top on top.
"Are you sure I don't need a shirt over the top?" I asked, feeling very nervous and exposed.
"Honey, with a rack like that, you need to show it off!" Ally laughed. I groaned.
"You never know who might be at the party tonight." Ally added, "Some hot guys?!?"
"I don't think I'm the type around here, everyone is sooo tall!" I laugh.
"Trust me, you are their type!" Ally winked. "But stay away from Dan, he's mine!" Ally laughed. I couldn't help but laugh too, even though I had no idea who Dan was.
Ally left to go have dinner with her family before the party. We agreed to meet at 7:00pm by the bonfire. I was pretty sure that should be easy enough to locate on my own.
I was sitting with Darren at the table eating a toasted sandwich for dinner when Emma made her grand entrance.
She walked down the stairs in a hot pink tube bikini top and a very tight black leather skirt. She had hot pink stiletto heels which made her even taller than she already was.
I wonder if they have had to build the doorways and benches taller in this pack to accommodate the extra tall beings? Viole mused.
That is actually a very good question. Remind me to ask Darren about it another time. I replied, genuinely interested.
"You are not wearing that?" Darren stuttered. Emma just rolled her eyes and sighed.
"It's fashion Dad, I don't expect you to understand." She whined.
"Do you want a toasted sandwich before we go?" Darren asked.
"A toasted sandwich?! You have to be joking, right? I'm wearing a swimsuit Dad, bloating?!" She groaned at him like it was the stupidest question he had ever asked. I couldn't help but glance down at my stomach to assess the damage the sandwich had done to me. I didn't think I looked any different?
"I'm ready!" Piper called down the stairs. I could hear her heels click clacking on the floorboards as she came down.
Piper was wearing a lime green one-piece that covered very little. Then she had a matching sheer scarf tied around her hips with matching green strappy heels. I suddenly feel underdressed.
Maybe you should swap your converse for a pair of heels? Violet questions.
We both know that I cannot walk in heels, Violet...I reply. Violet just laughs at my expense.
"Alright, let's go." Emma says as she glanced at Piper behind her and walks out the front door. Darren and I follow behind.
Have a great time. Mum links me from her bedroom.
I will. I reply before getting into the backseat.
Piper, sitting beside me in the back, looked like she was sitting in a clown car. Her knees were almost around her head. I was almost impressed at the flexibility it must take to sit like that comfortably.
