The crowd all had their eyes on me and this other wolf. He was tall but his eyes were locked on something behind me. I glanced around cautiously, trying to figure out what he was staring at.
Monica was silent, her breathing ragged. She stood there with her eyes locked onto the other wolf's eyes. I slowly stepped out from between them and moved to the side.
"Mate." Monica whispered.
"Mate." The other wolf whispered. My mouth dropped open. Monica had finally found her mate!
