The fractured tier could no longer hold. Every clash between the Hunter and the Veilborn shattered more of the ancient ruins around them. Broken pillars collapsed like brittle bone. Cracks spread through the platform in jagged lines that glowed faintly with the leaking energy of the Veil. Dust and mist filled the air. Stone groaned beneath unbearable weight. Aria could barely hear Kael over the thunder of the battle. “Aria!” His hand gripped her shoulder tightly, forcing her to look at him. “We have to get off this platform!” Behind them, Thane and Ryn were already guiding the Unaligned survivors toward a narrow stone bridge that extended from the fractured tier into the deeper mist of the Veil.
