Damian POV “Darts,” she murmured, leaning her head back. “Silver and wolfsbane. Slowed me down.” My hands curled into fists on my thighs. “I’m fine,” she added, eyes flicking to mine. “I’ll heal.” I exhaled slowly, forcing the tension out of my body before it could snap into something reckless. “You shouldn’t have had to.” Her gaze softened just slightly. “I knew you’d come.” Something in my chest locked, then steadied. Always. I reached out, brushing my thumb lightly beneath her eye, careful of the healing skin. “Rest.” For once, she didn’t argue. Her eyes slid closed, and within moments her breathing evened out. She dropped into sleep so quickly it was clear she was still fighting the effects of the drugs. But she trusted me. She trusted me enough to hold the line and let herself
