Chapter 2

1185 Words
In the palace of Tresford, Damien paced across his throne room, his brows pulled together in a tight furrow, his expression grave. “We have tried everything,” his subordinate interrupted his train of thought though they weren't really heading anywhere. He turned to face the man cowering in front of him, “What do you think is their motive for this?” He asked, his hands crossed behind his back but he didn't expect an answer. They didn't know, no body knew. They were quiet, all too scared to speak when their alpha had his hands behind his back. He was deadly at that moment. One thing Damien had always hated were witches, they were the bane of his existence. Every problem in his life was somehow connected to witches, they were the reason he could never have a mate. Due to a curse they placed on his forefathers because they couldn't bare to have the werewolf sever ties with them, he could never have a mate. Or so he believed. The moment he senses a mate connection with any female, he has vowed to kill her before she kills him. And now they were taking down his territory, wolf by wolf. Every morning, he is awoken to the news that some wolf has gone into salvage and is killing everyone he comes across. After much research, they found that it was the witches controlling them, the remainings of the clan that cursed his family. “Ahhh!” Damien groaned, the walls shook under the impact of his voice. His subordinates cowered back, moving deeper into the walls hoping for it to swallow them. “Alpha Damien,” Damien rose to see who had the audacity to interrupt him, the rim of his eyes were red and he looked like he would murder the man before him. “Another wolf has gone mad,” murmurs burst through the hall, Damien stopped pacing and stared at the messenger for a moment. “Lead me to him,” the messenger got up from his knees and started walking to the door. Damien and his subordinates followed. The messenger led them to the forest where indeed a werewolf was on a rampage, the wolf leaped from tree to tree in his wolf form. His black fur standing at alert and exhibiting strength that normal wolves wouldn't have. “What do we do?” the man besides him asked and Damien sighed. He always knew what to do but he didn't now, he hasn't for a long while. He didn't know what to do. “We'll corner him and try to take him down, there are about twenty of us. We should be able to take him down.” They nodded to his late reply unsteadily. On this matter, they didn't quite trust their alpha. “On the count of three,” the wolf had stopped on one tree and they were all facing him. “One… two…th-” the wolf jumped before they could move but not on another three now. The wolf jumped on something else, a human being, a boy. “Move!” Damien screamed when he broke out of his initial shock. His shout had no impact, the wolf had landed on the boy and was now… bowing? The wolf's fur was calmer now, no longer standing. It kept his head low before the feet of a young boy who had a bored expression on. Damien's eyes trailed to the extremely slim and sickly looking pale boy who watched the wolf in front of it with bored amusement. His eyes lingered on the boy and he groaned, “Mate,” he mumbled to himself. He tried denying the senses, his mate couldn't possibly be a male and a little boy at that. He must be mistaken. Taking the sword by his sides, he advanced toward the boy. “Stay here,” he told his subordinates and they nodded, unwilling to go anywhere near the wolf in the first place. Taking slow, deliberate steps, he sneaked up to the wolf and had its head cut off before it could have an expression. The boy's cold hard glare landed on him, they felt old and ancient and had no hint of fear in them. Pointing the sword in his neck, “Who are you?” He asked, the tip of the sword already drawing blood at his neck. The boy didn't reply, instead stared more intensely at him. Damien pushed the sword deeper into his neck, her blood slowly overlapping that one the wolf. “Who sent you?” He tried again, he didn't look like a wolf and definitely didn't seem human. If he could control the wolf he was probably… a witch? “A Discroll” His voice was light, even a bit feminine but there was nothing feminine about his cold hard glare staring daggers at him. “Kill me,” he said firmly and without fear. It almost sounded like a dare. Damien was caught off guard, he watched him for a while and released the sword from her neck. They watched each other, neither willing to be the first to submit. “What are you doing in this part of the mountain?” He asked, still eying him. The boy didn't reply and Damien began to get frustrated. “You're a witch, aren't you?” A smile broke from his face and his brows shot up. “You figured,” he gave another two word reply which was stepping on all of Damien's nerves. Damien watched him in deep thought, he was right, the boy is a witch and was on his turf. But all witches were remales…right? The boy in front of him could subdue the salvage wolves and was his mate. Fate was playing a dangerous game with him and luckily, he liked danger. “You have two choices,” he circled around the frail boy. “One, I could kill you here and let you serve as a warning for the rest of your witch clan,” he paused and caught the flicker of surprise that flashed in her eyes. “Or two,” he continued. “You could marry me and work with me to capture the other witches.” The boy laughed, an hearty amused laughter. “You seriously think I'm going to marry a wolf?” he said with strong disdain. “I'll give you time to think about it,” the boy didn't reply but instead turned to leave with his back tall. Damien's plan was simple. He marries him and has him swear to obey and be beneath him so he can use him to capture the witches and if lucky find a way to undo the curse. After he has served his purpose, he'll end his miserable life. As long as they don't consummate their marriage he's safe, and that wouldn't be a problem. He could never tempt him. He still couldn't believe that his mate is a male! “Have someone follow him,” he ordered, walking back to the palace.
