Chapter 3 - Heaven

1509 Words
Ashton Varnat I entered my apartment. I shared my space with three other guys, my best friends: Carl Livingston, Killian Dreyfuss, and Daniel Welsh. All four of us were the wealthiest guys on campus, all four of us untouchable. All four of us, campus kings and kings on the football field. We were all going pro; we were the best offense in college football in decades. We were all sure that soon we would be drafted by a professional team. We hoped to go pro all together, but we would be fine if we were drafted into separate teams. We were childhood friends, brothers… and we always rooted for each other. That is the way it was supposed to be. “So, another year,” I stretched on the couch, and Killian nodded. “Yeah… one more year to go,” he smirked, “And we can go pro… live the life…” he smirked, and I nodded. “Did you hear?” Daniel walked into the living room, and I looked up to meet his gaze. He was the one always hooking us up with the best parties, the one who lived by the YOLO motto. “About what?” I asked, knowing well that he was about to tell us about a gathering or a party. “f*****g Soren is inviting the whole team to party at Heaven,” he said, and I chuckled. “Soren is always trying to steal the scene…” I said, and he chuckled. “He is an i***t, but he is a f*****g good tackle,” Daniel said, and I nodded. “Is it mandatory?” I asked, not in the mood for going out tonight. “This s**t is always mandatory, besides, who knows? Maybe we get to see the new girls. Of course, we need to pick the ones that are beautiful first…after all, we are the stars of the football team,” Daniel said, and I sighed. “Are you going?” I asked Killian, and he nodded. “Carl!” he yelled, “We are going out in one hour,” Killian yelled, and I flipped him the bird. I was not in the mood to go out. I was irritated that this university decided to participate in the supernatural exchange program. I hated the supernatural race… and I was not in the mood to run into one of them. “Still brooding about the exchange program?” Daniel asked, and I nodded. “f**k you,” I grumbled, “Are you afraid a new QB would take your spot?” Killian said, and I shook my head. “No,” I said in a clipped voice. My hatred for the supernatural was beyond football, physical advantage, or such stupid things… My hatred was rooted in something deeper; my father was killed in the last invasion… it was a case of the wrong person at the wrong time… as far as I understand, and that makes it worse… it was not his time to leave, and they killed him… “I'm going to change,” I stood up and made my way to my room. I stared at myself in the mirror. If I had the opportunity, I would avenge my father. My father was a scientist, and he was in the process of discovering a cure… and was killed. My mother's side of the family was the one that had old money… wealthy to the point that my father could explore his mad science projects without worrying who would put food on our table. We lost a loving father; he was gone too soon… and now, I will have to move on with my life, without him cheering me on the sidelines, without him looking at me with pride. I picked up a black shirt and deep blue jeans. I combed my dark brown hair and stared at my hazel eyes. “Here goes nothing…” I sighed and walked out of my room. “Nice,” Daniel said, and I chuckled. He had a way of distracting me, doing silly s**t that would get me out of my funk. “Where are Killian and Carl?” I asked, placing my wallet in my back pocket. “Here.” They walked out of their rooms. “Alright, then… let's go to Heaven…” I said, and Daniel made a silly dance. “I call dibs on the first hottie we see,” he said, and I chuckled. “With enough beer, you will think every woman in there is beautiful…” I patted his back, and he laughed. “I have standards!” he said, “Low ones, but yeah,” Carl said, and we all laughed. Since we were the cream of the crop, it was an easy task to find willing women to f**k. One drink, and a little escapade to the bathroom in the bar, and that was all we needed to hook up for one night. It came with the status we held. I took my G-class Mercedes-Benz, and we piled up. I knew better than to let Daniel drive.” Are you self-proclaiming yourself as the designated driver?” Carl said, “I know better than to depend on Daniel, and sorry, but if I get bored, all of you can take an Uber,” I said nonchalantly, making Killian and Carl groan. “You are a fucker,” Killian said, and I chuckled. “I know,” I said, and they chuckled. Yeah, I knew I was mostly an asshole, and I didn't care. I parked, and the rope was removed as soon as we stepped on the sidewalk. A couple of girls giggled and waved at me, and I smirked. Not bad, but not enough to allow them to hang around us. Daniel, Killian, and Carl walked in with me, and we quickly made our way to the VIP area. The loud music, the crowded space, was too familiar, too much of the same s**t, over and over… in our junior year, the novelty certainly had worn out… We ordered drinks, and we all stood around the veranda on the balcony that overlooked the dance floor. “She put out nicely,” Daniel pointed at a girl with big t**s and a massive cleavage. “I am not taking your scraps…” I made a gagging face, and he laughed. “But she is a kinky f**k… You might consider it when you get tired of f*****g vanilla style…” he patted my shoulder playfully. I chuckled and flipped him again. I never bragged, never told them details, so they assumed I liked vanilla s*x, and for the record… vanilla is the least thing I like… so yeah… let them wonder. Kinky is fun, but I am not going to go for a woman who dresses like that… If you stand her in a corner, anyone would think she is a hooker… Nope, different from Danny, I do have standards. I heard Killian whistle beside me, “Fresh meat, three o'clock," he said, and I looked around. I only saw a sea of heads and people walking by the bar. “What?” I asked, thinking I had heard wrong. “Beside the bar…” he said, and he pinpointed the group of girls. Four women, certainly freshmen… “Danny, are you up for the hunt?” Killian asked, and he squinted his eyebrows. “Where?” he asked, Killian pointed at the group of girls, and Daniel whistled. “f**k, each one of those girls is gorgeous,” he said, and I chuckled. “You go,” I said to Killian, and he chuckled. “Carl! Care to be my wingman? I am sure if I take Danny, he will lower my points,” Killian said, and I chuckled. I looked at the group of girls, and suddenly one of them turned around and laughed… “f*****g hell…” I mumbled, she was f*****g beautiful. “I want a night with her…” I mumbled, and Carl looked in my direction. “Wow, she is…” he mumbled, “Mine…” I said, and he chuckled. “Possessive much?” Killian joked. “I just want a night…” I winked, and they chuckled. “Alright… shall we make a move?” I smirked, and Daniel smiled. “I like the blonde,” he said eagerly, and Carl smirked… we all knew he had a thing for redheads… “Then, the tall one with dark hair and hazel eyes is for me,” Killian smirked… I lifted my hand, and a waiter stood beside me in no time. “Send those girls drinks, on me,” I said, and he nodded. He knew us well, and he knew that those girls would not stand a chance, and that tonight we would hook up with them, only to toss them the next day. “On it, Sir,” he smirked, Well, tonight is going to be fun, after all.
