“Clancy, do you think it’s appropriate that your mother can say what she wants about me but when I call her out you shout at me? She’s allowed to say awful things and I’m not? Don’t you think that’s kind of a double standard?”
Clancy growled. Then there was a loud bang that made Julia jump.
“Don’t be disrespectful to Mom!” He bellowed. “She’s never done anything to you!”
“If you think that, then you were living in a completely different world.” Julia could only hope the neighbors would come out to tell them to get lost or call the cops. Why hadn’t she called them yet? “You’re not supposed to treat your girlfriend like a second-class citizen. I went into a relationship with you, not you and your mom. Aside from the fact I prefer exclusive to one person, that’s just creepy.”
