Chapter 3

1084 Words
Allister was pulled out of his thoughts when he heard the door to the grand room being pulled open. He had been out of it for the last few days with what had happened to Kane. He knew that he should have done something about it, but he was the leader, and he was meant to set the standards that the others were to follow. "I see you are still brooding." He heard Mark say: He turned toward him with raised eyebrows as he gritted his teeth. This was not the time for them to make jokes. "I am not in the mood. What do you want?" he asked, and he watched as a smile made its way onto his face. "Grand wishes to see you in the chambers." He said this to him, and Allister couldn't help but look toward him in confusion. "Fine." He knew this wouldn't be any good. Whenever they were forced to enter the drawing room, it meant that a prophecy had been revealed or that there was something that they had to settle. He made his way into the room, where he found Grand standing in front of the large crystal dome. He looked over at him with a raised eyebrow. "You called for me," he said. He watched as he hummed. "Yes, there is a chance that we may have some trouble. We have received words of a hybrid," he said to him. He looked over at him with a look of confusion. "How is that possible? I thought that they had all been put out." Hybrids were a group that were both witches and werewolves. Well, another just appeared on our radar. She is of shifter age, and I guess it seems as though for now something has been used to mute her abilities, but now we have a clear view of her." he said to him. Allister hummed at him in response but didn't say anything else after that. "What do you want from me?" He said to him: He never asked the how or the what. It was the "why." "We can't allow her to carry on, and you know that we must put a stop to her for good before she causes the darkness to grow. It has already reached our neighbors. What we need to do is put a stop to her." He said to him. Allister hummed as he nodded his head at him in agreement, as he knew that he was right. "Do you have any idea of her location or where we can find her?" he asked. He watched as he let out a sigh and grabbed a hold of the crystal ball that was in the center. He noticed a thick cloud form. "She is in the Water Crest Wolf Pack, an omega, I believe." He muttered. He watched quickly as the oak came into view and a figure of a girl with long black curls appeared. She had piercing green eyes and had her head vastly down as she was locked in a cell. Allister was left frozen by the sight of her. He didn't know why, but she seemed to unlock something deep inside of him. "That is her". Grand said this to his own dismay. Allister had his gaze fixed on the damsel that was on the screen. He didn't know what it was, but something almost animalistic inside of him was riled up by the mere sight of her. He knew that he couldn't react rashly, but he could tell that there was something off about her. "So what do we plan to do about her?" He said it after a moment, and he didn't miss the fact that his voice was raspy and his tone was strained. He watched as the grand let out a sigh from his lips as he shook his head at him in response. Well, the good thing is that there is nothing that we are going to do. She is set to be burned alive by her pack. They want to kill her for murdering the Alpha’s son. Even without knowing it, she is still a danger to people. So once this is over, I am going to need you to retrieve her." Grand said. He looked towards him with a raised eyebrow in confusion as he wondered why. "Why me? You could have sent anyone out there, but why did you choose me specifically?" He asked him, and he watched as he gave him a bright smile. "Because I can see that there is something dangerous about her. She may set off and attack one of our men, so because of that, I need this one to stay between the two of us. I can't have you tell anyone else about what is going on," he said to him. He thought over it for a moment as he looked towards the glass one last time. This was what was best. After all, he didn't like the fact that the girl was playing with his mind. He was relieved that soon enough he would get rid of her. "I am not aware of when it will happen. It could be a week or two. I need you to be ready to retrieve her corpse." Grand said, and he nodded his head at him in response as he sucked in a deep breath. With that, he turned to leave. This was nothing out of the ordinary for him. It was his duty to keep the balance across the realm, and there were times when that meant that he would do things that would be considered by some to be unethical. But in the end, he wasn't about to apologize for ensuring the safety of the people. He was doing it for them. And in truth, what they should have been grateful for was him. He spent the next few days focusing on his training. He didn't know why the girl still continued to linger in his thoughts. It didn't matter how hard he tried to keep his mind clear of her, she still seemed to linger in his head. On the seventh day, he realized he couldn't do it anymore and made his way back to the grand room. As his gaze drifted to the crystal dome, he found her tied up against a stake. He let out a venomous growl from his lips as something snapped inside him. He wouldn’t wait. He was going to get her now.
