Traveling home II

Now that I was pressed so close to him, it was impossible to ignore his scent and the warmth radiating from him. The smell of warm leather was surprisingly pleasant, but I refused to let myself look into it too much. It was bad enough that I had to travel home like this and I already missed Darcy. My thoughts turned to Darcy. He had not left any notes and had not messaged me. I was kinda nervous about it. Sure, he gets caught up with work, but he always lets me know that he is okay. I messaged him before leaving, but there was no response yet. "We are stopping, princess "What? Why?" "We need to let the bike cool down a bit before it overheats. There is a dinner not far from here. We can have something to eat while we wait." Before I could react, he was already making a soft turn. It was quite surprising, but I enjoyed the bike ride. Maybe it was because Colin handled it very masterfully and I trusted him not to kill us both. We stopped next to a small family dinner and Colin killed the engine. The stop pushed me closer to him and I jumped off before he could say anything. "Go inside and get us a table. Order anything you want and a black coffee for me. I have a call to make." I really wanted to tell him off, but I was sure that if I pissed him off he would have no problem leaving me stranded here in the middle of nowhere. So I kept my mouth shut as I rushed inside, leaving him alone. The moment I stepped into the dinner, I was met by the scent of coffee and slightly burned pancakes. To no surprise, there were only a few customers spread out throughout the room, so it was easy to find a place to sit. The moment I sat down, an elderly lady appeared next to me, handing me a one-page menu. "Just two coffees, please." I said to her and handed the menu back. "Are you sure that is all you want, dear?" With a soft smile, I nodded. "Yes." "Okay, I will bring it in a few minutes. Let me know if you want anything else." As she was leaving, I leaned back into my booth and looked out the window. Colin was still standing by the bike, talking on his phone. It was clear he was having a heated discussion with someone. It was probably someone from his pack that he was cursing out just because he was pissed off. Suddenly, he looked up as if he felt my eyes on him. The moment I met his eyes, the heat hit my cheeks and I looked away. Why did he have this effect on me? At that moment, my phone vibrated and I grabbed it hoping that it was Darcy, but it was just a random email. Why hasn't he answered me yet? I considered messaging him again, but before I could start the text, Colin appeared. He slid into the booth in front of me, but before he could say anything, the sweet elderly waitress appeared with two cups of coffee and sat them in front of us. "Here you go darling and I take it, this one is for your boyfriend. Do you want something with your coffee?" With a charming smile that I never expected him to have, Colin answered the sweet elderly lady. "No, ma'am, that will be all, thank you." "Call me if you need anything else." With those last words, she turned on her heel and left. Colin pushed one cup in my direction and picked another one for himself. I took the cup he pushed in my direction and pulled it to my lips. The coffee was bitter and not really good, but it was better than nothing. Neither I nor Colin said anything for a few moments, we just drank our coffee as I avoided his eyes, "Your father wishes for you to arrive faster." I couldn't help but chuckle. So that was who he was talking to. "Yeah, he did not wish it, he demanded that I would be delivered faster. Let's not pretend that he is capable of asking." To my surprise, he chuckled. "Well, he tried to demand it, but as it was physically impossible for me to do so, I had to say no." "I'm sure that went very well." "Oh as well as it would go, saying no to any alpha, but I do have to agree he was way more colourful with his words and demands than most." I stared at him as he talked with a smile on his face. "So why are you doing this? Is this a favour to my father or are you trying to suck up to my father? You do not really look like one of his lackeys." "It is part of the deal we have. He did something for me and he asked me to perform my usual services in return free of charge." "And what services do you perform?" He lowered his empty cup to the table and looked at me. "Mainly it's pulling people out from dangerous situations and security here and there, but I really do it any more." I stared at him for a moment, trying to understand why my father asked him to take me home and not his men. Was there something I didn't know? Looking up at him, I tried to put the most charming smile on my face. "And do you know why he asked you to deliver me home? Is there a danger that I am not aware of?" He looked at me for a moment, probably trying to decide what he could tell me. "Your father said not to tell you anything." "Come on Colin, don't keep in the dark, I have to know if there is someone out to off me." He smiled and leaned back in his booth and answered. "I will tell you what I know... if you promise me one thing..."
