As the sun rose over the horizon, Kemmy made her way back home, her legs aching from the previous day's ordeal. She knocked on the door, and her mom welcomed her in, concern etched on her face. "Sweetheart, what happened to your legs?" her mom asked, her voice laced with worry. Kemmy hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. "I'm fine, Mom. Just a minor injury from the trip. How are you, by the way? Where's everyone?" she replied, trying to deflect her mom's concern. Her mom's eyes narrowed, sensing that Kemmy was hiding something. "They've gone to work. Let me get some hot water for your leg," she said, heading to the kitchen. Kemmy lay down on the sofa, feeling exhausted. Her mom returned with a bowl of hot water and gently helped Kemmy soak her legs. As they sat there in silence, Kemmy's mom asked again, "What really happened, sweetie?" Kemmy sighed, knowing she couldn't keep the truth hidden forever. "Mom...I didn't see a ditch ahead of me, and I fell, hitting a big log," she explained, trying to downplay the severity of the incident. Her mom's expression turned sympathetic. "Oh, sorry dear. Next time, you should be more careful. By the way, how was your trip?" Kemmy forced a smile. "It was nice. We had fun." Meanwhile, Ryan and Christian returned home, their faces reflecting their exhaustion. Christian's eyes sparkled despite his fatigue, while Ryan's face was etched with his usual scowl. "Christian, what really happened in that forest?" Ryan asked, his tone accusatory. Christian shrugged. "Nothing much. We got lost during the hide-and-seek game, that's all." Ryan's eyes narrowed. "Something's wrong! Why do I feel like you're lying?" Christian's expression turned defensive. "I'm serious!" Ryan's face darkened. "I'll just go upstairs," Christian said, trying to avoid a confrontation. But Ryan caught his shirt. "What's wrong with you, bro!!" Here's the continuation of the edited version: "What's wrong with you, bro!!" Christian exclaimed, his eyes flashing with anger. Ryan's face darkened. "Let me sound this warning very clearly to you, Christian: you better not lie to me. Whatever happened between you and Kemmy at the forest should end there! I saw her on your back!! So, whatever happened between the two of you should end there!! Because Kemmy is mine!!" Ryan declared, his voice dripping with possessiveness. Christian felt a stinging sensation in his eyes as tears welled up. "Ryan, enough!" he pleaded, his voice cracking. Ryan released Christian's shirt and stormed upstairs, leaving Christian feeling hurt and betrayed. Christian went back to his room, his mind reeling with thoughts. He couldn't shake off the feeling that Ryan's outburst was more than just sibling rivalry. "Does that mean Ryan also likes Kemmy?" Christian wondered, his heart sinking at the possibility. He sat down on his bed and picked up his phone. He dialed Chris's number, and his friend answered on the first ring. "Hey, what's up?" Chris asked, his voice cheerful. Christian took a deep breath and recounted the entire conversation with Ryan. Chris listened attentively, his silence speaking volumes. When Christian finished, Chris spoke up. "Why are you worried about that? I thought you weren't having a crush on Kemmy, so why is it bothering you?" Christian sighed. "I don't know, Chris. I think I like her." Chris's laughter echoed through the phone. "Finally! You admitted it." Christian smiled wryly. "But I wish I wasn't, because it's going to be a serious thing if Ryan likes her too." Chris's tone turned serious. "So, are you saying you'll back down because of Ryan?" Christian hesitated. "I don't know, Chris. I really don't know." Chris's voice was firm. "Christian, you have always sacrificed everything for Ryan, who never appreciates. Like, I saw Ryan with your favorite sneakers too at the trip! You get hit by Ryan when he becomes unnecessarily angry. Isn't that enough? Even if you want to sacrifice everything, will you also sacrifice your love?" Christian felt a pang of guilt. Chris was right; he had always put Ryan's needs before his own. "Think about it, bro," Chris said, his voice softening. "I have to go now; my mom just called." "Alright, take care," Christian replied, feeling a sense of resolve wash over him. He hung up the phone and lay down on his bed, his mind racing with thoughts of Kemmy and Ryan. He knew that he had to make a decision, but he was scared of the consequences. As he drifted off to sleep, Christian couldn't shake off the feeling that his life was about to change in ways he couldn't imagine. Meanwhile, Shane was on his way back home from work. The sky was dark, and the rain poured down relentlessly. Shane held an umbrella as he walked, his eyes fixed on the ground. As he turned a corner, he spotted Danielle standing under the rain, crying. Shane's expression turned concerned, and he quickened his pace. "Danielle, what's wrong? Talk to me," Shane said, his voice soft and gentle. Danielle looked up, her eyes red and puffy. "I'm tired of this life! Let me just die!" she exclaimed, her voice shaking with emotion. Shane's expression turned sympathetic. "No, please don't say that, okay? What happened?" he asked, his voice calm and reassuring. Danielle took a deep breath and began to explain. "I was little when my parents died. We had nothing, but we loved each other. My aunt was also there, claiming to love me..." It was on my sixth birthday; my dad went out to get me a present he could afford. I was very happy that finally I would have a present, but it was already late at night, and he didn't come back. My mom left me at home to search for my dad, but she never returned either. By the next morning, my parents' bodies were brought back home, where the police said their bodies were found floating on the sea. My aunt sponsored the burial. I cried my whole life. Two weeks after the burial, my aunt took me to her restaurant. That was when I saw my aunt's true behavior. She always found one reason or the other to beat me and insult me or my parents. Anytime she does that, I feel very mistreated. She always referred to me as a bastard. I can't take this anymore, Shane! I can't stay here as long as they won't be anyone to hit me or insult me and my parents." Shane's expression turned somber, and he listened attentively to Danielle's heartbreaking story. He couldn't imagine what she had gone through, and his heart went out to her. "It's okay, Danielle, don't worry about everything, but you really need to go home. You can't stay under the rain, okay?" Shane said gently, trying to reassure her. But Danielle shook her head, her eyes welling up with tears. "But I don't want to!!" she exclaimed, her voice shaking with emotion. Shane remained silent, letting Danielle pour out her pain. He stood there with her, under the rain, until she finally calmed down. When she was done, Shane took her to a nearby restaurant and bought her something to eat. They sat down at a table, and Shane tried to distract her from her troubles. As they ate and talked, Danielle began to feel a little better. She smiled slightly, and Shane's heart warmed up to her. As the evening wore on, Shane knew it was time to take Danielle home. He walked her back to her aunt's restaurant, making sure she was safe. As they stood outside the restaurant, Danielle turned to Shane and smiled weakly. "Thank you, Shane." Shane smiled back and waved goodbye. "It's okay, take care." As Shane walked away, he couldn't help but feel a sense of concern for Danielle. He hoped that she would find a way to escape her troubled past and build a better future for herself. As Shane got back home, he found everyone waiting for his arrival, their faces etched with worry. "Shane! Where were you? We were worried sick about you! Your phone was also switched off," Harrison said, relief washing over his face as he saw Shane walk in safely. "I'm sorry for keeping you worried. I'm fine. It's bedtime, we should all go and rest," Shane said, as they all went inside. Shane was sleepless, his mind racing with thoughts of Danielle and the hardships she faced. He felt a pang of sympathy for her and prayed for her well-being before he finally drifted off to sleep. The next morning, the Harrison household was bustling with activity. Shane and Harrison had already left for work, and Kemmy was getting ready for school. She limped slightly, her legs still aching from the previous day's ordeal. Despite her mother's concerns, Kemmy was determined to go to school. As she entered her classroom, she was met with snickers and mocking glances from her classmates. Ryan, however, was quick to come to her defense. He rushed to her side, his face filled with concern. "Hey, are you okay? Do you need help?" Ryan asked, his voice soft and gentle. Kemmy's face flushed with embarrassment as she tried to brush off Ryan's concern. "Thank you, I'm fine," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Ryan's eyes lingered on Kemmy's face, filled with a deep affection. Christian, who was watching from across the room, felt a pang of jealousy. He couldn't help but wonder why Ryan was being so sweet to Kemmy. As the teacher entered the classroom, the students settled down, and the lesson began. Christian tried to focus on the lesson, but his mind kept wandering back to Kemmy and Ryan. At breakfast time, Ryan approached Kemmy again, his face beaming with a bright smile. "Hi, can I join you?" he asked, his voice filled with hope. Kemmy's face lit up with a warm smile. "Sure," she said, as Ryan sat down beside her. Christian felt a pang of sadness as he watched Ryan and Kemmy laughing together. He couldn't help but wonder if he had lost his chance with Kemmy. As Ryan called out to everyone in the dining hall, Christian felt his heart sink. "Attention, everybody! Christian looks so lonely and annoyed. Can someone ask him what the matter is?" Ryan said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. The dining hall erupted into laughter, and Christian felt his face flush with embarrassment. He tried to brush it off, but the sting of Ryan's words lingered. "Poor boy! Look at the way his fame got stolen from him. Be warned, or else everything will be stolen from you! It's a brotherly advice," Ryan said, his voice filled with mockery. Christian walked out of the dining hall, Chris called out to him. "Hey, Christian!" But Christian didn't respond. He just kept walking, his heart heavy with emotion. Chris looked at Jake and shook his head. "I think Ryan has finally gone too far." Kemmy stormed out of the dining hall, her indignation and exasperation simmering just below the surface. She was incredulous at Ryan's callous behavior towards Christian. With a sense of purpose, she walked aimlessly, trying to escape the tumultuous emotions that threatened to overwhelm her. As she turned a corner, she spotted Christian sitting at the basketball court, his eyes brimming with unshed tears. His countenance was etched with sorrow, and his shoulders slumped in defeat. Kemmy's heart went out to him, and she felt an overwhelming sense of compassion. "Hey," Kemmy said softly, trying not to startle him. But Christian didn't respond. He just sat there, his eyes fixed on the ground, his expression a mask of despair. Kemmy sat down beside him, her eyes filled with concern. "Wait! Are you sitting here because of what your brother said to you? I never knew you for backing down!" she exclaimed, trying to rouse him from his despondency. Christian finally looked up, his eyes flashing with hurt. "What do you want me to do? Fight back?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, his tone laced with vulnerability. Kemmy's eyes narrowed. "No, but you can smile and turn it all away. Now, he feels triumphant!" she said, rolling her eyes in disgust. "Why did he do those things anyway?" Kemmy asked, her voice filled with curiosity and a hint of outrage. Christian shrugged. "I don't know! If it were someone else, I wouldn't mind. But it's my blood brother! My twin brother! I can only feel hurt. I don't know why he hates me this much." Christian said, his voice cracking with emotion as he let his tears flow. Kemmy's eyes filled with empathy. "I understand how you feel, but you have to also show him the tough side of you. He can't just take your pride and your joy. Yes, you love him, but show him that he has his own boundaries. Be the tough guy you were who always laughs at insults and makes the mocker look foolish. I fell for that too!" Kemmy said, as they shared a moment of silence. Christian's face lit up with a faint smile, and his eyes sparkled with gratitude. "You know, you have a way of encouraging people. I know that we haven't been friends, but there's a way you challenge me," Christian said, his voice filled with sincerity. "Because you hate defeat!" Kemmy said, as they shared a laugh. There was an uncomfortable silence everywhere when Kemmy suddenly held Christian's hand and looked into his eyes. "I was never a friend to you, but you can call me if you need me," she said, smiling softly. Everywhere was silent when Kemmy felt Christian's lips on her cheek. He kissed her! Kemmy's eyes widened in shock, and her heart skipped a beat. She felt a rush of excitement and nervousness. "I'm sorry," Christian said, but still, Kemmy didn't say anything. Suddenly, they heard someone's voice from behind. "What did you just do?" Chris asked, while Jake's eyes remained wide open. Christian felt like he shouldn't have done that. Kemmy was still in shock, her eyes fixed on Christian's face. The scene was interrupted by the sound of Chris's voice, and Kemmy finally snapped out of her trance-like state. She quickly pulled her hand away from Christian's, her face flushing with embarrassment. Kemmy didn't say a word; she just got up and walked away, leaving Christian, Chris, and Jake staring after her in shock. As Kemmy walked away, she couldn't shake off the feeling that her life was about to change forever. She felt a mix of emotions: shock, embarrassment, and a hint of excitement. She didn't know what to make of Christian's kiss, but she couldn't deny the way it made her feel. She felt alive, and her heart was racing with excitement. As she walked into her classroom, Kemmy's mind was still reeling from the events that had just transpired. She couldn't concentrate on the lesson, her mind kept wandering back to Christian and the kiss they shared. The rest of the day was a blur for Kemmy. She went through the motions, but her heart and mind were elsewhere. She couldn't stop thinking about Christian and the way he made her feel. As the day drew to a close, Kemmy couldn't help but wonder what the future held for her and Christian. She didn't know if he felt the same way, but she couldn't deny the connection they shared.
