The Search. "Yes, my Alpha," Durella bowed and exited the pack to assemble the other male wolves as instructed by Alpha Kane. Seeing the disappointment hoarding Kane's face, Durella knew he mustn't come back with negative news if he didn't want to be beheaded by his Alpha. "Now listen up everyone. Who else is missing? Go call the others. I want everyone assembled here now. A big task awaits us." Durella roared at the male wolves while they awaited the others. "Would you mind telling us what's going on here? Are we preparing to wage another war against our opposition pack? Speak, my BETA. We are so curious to know why you called us," one of them spoke on behalf of everyone. "Patience is a virtue. I do not have the luxury of patience to entertain your questions. Soon, you'll understand why I called y'all out here when the others arrived," Durella muttered succinctly as 5 other male wolves assembled with the others "You asked us to come. What's the problem? Is the Alpha in distress?" Romero asked as he pants heavily like someone being chased by wild animals," "Finally! I'm happy that y'all decided to accept my invitation. You're not far from the truth Romero. The Alpha is indeed in great distress. But we can restore the joy to his face again," Durella finally broke the silence that stunned everyone. "And what could be done?" Everyone exclaimed in unison as they widened their mouths in a fly-catching position. It took them a few minutes to finally realize that. "Fiona just absconded with the Alpha's unborn child. Aside from escaping, she's also exposing herself and the baby to danger. What if she gets attacked by angry wolves? Perhaps, she might get kidn*pped by ravelers or slave traders. We need to go find her now. She must be brought home alive. Is that understood?" Durella announced. "Yes, my BETA," they all screamed. The shock on everyone's face could tell how serious the situation was. The last time Durella assembled them like that, they were planning to invade another pack for a war in which they emerged victorious. "Good! Now, let's go immediately," Durella led the way as they marched into the woods in full squad. "I'll kill Durella if he fails to come back without Fiona. I can't believe I was this close to breaking the curse. Argh! What if she isn't found? No. I would never hoard such nonsense imagination." Alpha Kane thought. The pain of not finding Fiona and dying before 30 Is beginning to scare him. At this juncture, Kane may be forced to believe the moon goddess is becoming silent over his predicament. "My Alpha, your food is ready. Should I get it for you?" One of the maids interrupted his thoughts. "Don't be a b***h. I didn't recall asking you to serve my food. Can you just let me be? Get the f**k away from my presence this moment before I do something stupid," Kane yelled at the maid. "But.." "Just go. I don't need any food. Why are you so daft? I don't want anything. I just want to be left alone. I want y'all out of this place this minute," Kane transferred his aggression at the domestic staff around him to bend his head in disappointment. He just wanted to be left alone. Too much to bear for lonely Alpha. This was the moment he wished he had his late mother around. She would have stuck around and become his confidant. Quite unfortunate she departed the earth so early and abandoned him to his problems alone. __________ "Durella, are you sure Fiona can be found? We've combed the entire woods but she isn't found yet," Danny questioned. He was beginning to lose hope in the search for Fiona. They never believed it would turn out this difficult. Since Fiona was heavily pregnant, they believed finding her was going to be an easy ride. But she proved them wrong. After an hour of immense searching, most of the male wolves have lost hope of ever finding her. "Y'all are so stupid and lazy. What if this was a battlefield? It makes me wonder if you have the IQ of a toad, Danny. Fiona is heavily pregnant. There's no way she could have gone far. We need to keep moving forward until she's found. I don't care how long it takes us to find her. Remember what the Alpha said about coming back without Fiona? I don't wish to die now. My instincts tell me she might be somewhere around here. I can smell her scent," Durella raised his head to perceive the atmosphere. Suddenly, his eyes turned dark and scary and made everyone freaked out. He looked behind him to find a pregnant lady who shared the same similarities with Fiona. "Go get her. Don't let her run away," Kane ordered his men. Without hesitation, they went after the lady who wouldn't stop running. She doesn't understand why they kept chasing her. They chased her until she stepped on a stone and fell to the ground. "Who are you? Let me go." She turned around to beg them. That was the moment they realized it was the wrong target. "Damn! What a striking resemblance. We apologize for the inconvenience. There must be a mix-up somewhere," Rodrigo apologized to the lady. "f**k your apology. Did you realize what just happened? I nearly lost my pregnancy due to your negligence. How do you explain that? I'm not allowing y'all leave here without paying for the damages." She threatened them and grabbed Rodrigo's shirt. "Madam, please let go of me. I just apologized. Is that enough already?" Rodrigo frowned. "Says who? Are you paying me off or do you want me to scream and alert the others? I'm pretty sure they'll be willing to listen to a heavily pregnant lady," she hissed. Durella stood from afar to await Fiona's capture. He was already beaming with smiles that she was finally captured. 25 minutes gone and his men hadn't showed up yet with Fiona. "What could be keeping them? She ought to be brought here already. I don't understand how difficult it is to capture a pregnant teenage girl." He thought. After minutes of waiting, he got tired and decided to go see what was happening. To his greatest shock, he saw a mystery pregnant lady gripping Rodrigo's shirt. "What the heck is happening here? Where's Fiona? And why is this lady gripping your shirt?" Durella quizzed. He can't seem to understand what was happening. "We thought she was Fiona. She turned out to be a different person. Now she's requesting a payoff before she would let go. We've been this way for minutes now. Can you please talk to her?" Rodrigo implored. "Madam, what's the matter? You weren't our target. Let go of him. We've got a more important situation ahead of us. We wouldn't want no delay from you this moment," Durella stepped in as the mediator. "Then be prepared to beat a pregnant lady to death because there's no way I'm letting go of him unless he pays me off," she insisted. "Pays you off? For what exactly? We don't remember buying anything from you. This has got to be the biggest joke ever. What makes you think it's right? Woman, let us go. I don't want to do something I'll regret later. Leave while you still can," Durella displayed a dagger to threaten her. "See this? It's not a toy. I'll slit your throat open with it and go Scott-free. Look around you, nobody's watching. You'd be long dead even before anyone finds out. You're not the person we seek. Alpha Kane sent us on an errand to find his missing Luna named Fiona. I want to believe your name isn't Fiona, is it?" "Of course, not. I'm sorry for my behavior. They were mere pregnancy exhibits. I wish you success in your quest," she freed Rodrigo's shirt and walked away as though nothing happened. "How did you do it? I tried all tricks to discard that lady but none worked," Rodrigo laughed. "You're the worst thing that ever happened to our pack. Just pray we find Fiona before nightfall. it's getting dark already. Let's proceed with our search. I'm not giving up soon," Durella s*****d his head as they continued their search. ________ It's 5:30 pm already and Fiona hasn't been found yet. Alpha Kane is becoming restless about the predicament. Glancing at the calendar on his wall, he could confirm his birthday was fast approaching. He is refusing to talk to anyone or eat something. Food has become his greatest enemy at this juncture. A few months ago, he never cared about Fiona a bit. He treated her like garbage as though she never existed. Fast forward to this moment, he can't wait to see her get back alive. 90 percent of his thoughts have been occupied by Fiona alone. He wish she would return to the pack, for his son's sake. "Knock! Knock!" A maid stood in front of his doorstep, knowing Kane didn't want to see anyone. "Who's that? I thought I clearly stated I didn't want to see anyone. Who the hell is that?" Kane smashed a glass against the wall in rage. "I'm sorry, my Alpha. The moon guardian is at the Pack. She demands to see you immediately," the maid stated in a frightening voice. "The moon guardian?" Kane exclaimed in shock. She was the last person he expected to see at this moment. A while ago, the moon guardian vowed never to step foot inside the pack anymore until the Alpha had got sensitive information about the whereabouts of Fiona. "Go tell the moon guardian I'll be there shortly," Kane finally answered after a prolonged silence. He wasn't sure what the moon guardian wanted but whatever it was, Kane was quite optimistic it wouldn't worsen his situation. Quietly, he tossed off his bed and stepped outside to Aria frowning at his Pack. Kane couldn't move further. He just stood from afar to welcome the moon guardian. "Of what do I owe this visit? You were the last person I expected to see." Kane stuttered. "Then I might as well go back to the cave if I'm not welcomed here," she attempted to walk away when Kane stopped her. "Please, don't. I take back my words. I am just a bit surprised to see you show up here after the embarrassment I caused previously," Kane apologized in a faint tone. He's slowly becoming a shadow of himself with no strength. "I am here for a different purpose. I don't care about shitty mortals. The moon goddess is upset at you for jeopardizing her efforts to save your clan. You're a deep trouble right now." Ariel divulged. "Trouble? Can I know my offense? I'm fed up with everything happening around me." Kane wailed like a toddler. The last time he shed was when he lost his father. The once ruthless Alpha is slowly becoming a weakling. "Yes, my Alpha. You brought this problem upon yourself. You're the reason Fiona eloped with the pregnancy. Now you must pay dearly for it," Aria said. "But how? I can't seem to recall anything. I never had a fallout with Fiona before her escape." Kane replied in confusion. "The goddess doesn't lie. Selene is the epitome of truth and honesty. What did you discuss with Durella, your BETA? Your discussion with him made Fiona escape. Think. Take your mind to the last discussion you had with him," she charged him. "My BETA? I just... Oh, now I recall," Kane reminisced about the last discussion he had with his BETA where he revealed the reason he desperately wanted Fiona to get married. "Now I get it. She was pissed off and betrayed after discovering that I tricked her. She found out about my death curse. Was that enough reason to have eloped with my pregnancy? She could have stayed back to discuss the situation better." Kane defended his actions. "Don't be so stupid, Kane. Have you suddenly lost your sense of reasoning? Would you have stayed back if you were in her situation? Take responsibility for your actions and stop acting like a p***y," she scolded him as though he was her son.
