Every single instinct inside me screamed to keep moving, to twist that porcelain doorknob, step out into the hallway, and put as much distance between myself and Enzo as physically possible. I wanted to just leave. ​But as his ragged voice echoed through the high-ceilinged room, a heavy, familiar weight settled over my chest. I decided to obey.
