NOTE
The Lakota people, part of the Sioux Nation, are one of the larger Native American groups in the United States. Many live in the area surrounding the Black Hills of South Dakota. I have tried very hard to represent their culture accurately and apologize for any mistakes I may have made. Like Selene, I'm not Lakota and cannot grasp what it must be like to be one, although I like them very much. If you are interested in the Lakota, there is a wealth of information available, the best of which is prepared by the people themselves. There are videos of Wacipis on YouTube, and if you are fortunate enough to live near a community, these events are often open to the public.
