On the ride back, Selene began to feel nervous. Brandon said he was willing to wait, but we're planning to sleep together in the same bed. She spent the rest of the drive vacillating between fretting and bubbling with excitement, so that, by the time Brandon pulled the pickup into the garage, she felt nearly ill. Hopping down without waiting for his help, she bolted into the house. Sammy greeted her at the door with a flurry of wailing complaints and a tickly brush of his fluffy gray tail against her leg.
