Veiled Fury - Lisa's POV

562 Words
As the presentation concluded, a storm brewed within Lisa, her anger seething beneath a practiced smile. She clenched her jaw so tightly, fearing she might c***k a tooth, her plans to humiliate Emily having backfired spectacularly. Instead of witnessing Emily's downfall, she was forced to watch her bask in the glow of success and admiration. Mr. Thompson showered Emily with accolades, praising the innovative direction and flawless execution of the photoshoot. "We're launching in three days," he announced, his voice brimming with excitement. "Emily, your focus on this project has been exemplary. The brand is thrilled with the results; it's precisely the image they hoped to project." Emily's response was gracious, her happiness palpable. "Thank you, Mr. Thompson, and to our esteemed clients. I'm honored to have been part of such a visionary project." The compliments flowed freely, each one a dagger to Lisa's pride. As the CEO and the client engaged Alex in conversation, praising his contribution, Lisa saw her moment to strike. She approached Emily, her words coated in venom but disguised with a saccharine smile. "Congratulations, Emily," she sneered, her voice laced with insincerity. "You've certainly shown us all how to get ahead. I must say, your flirting skills are as impressive as your marketing ones. Or should I say, more like a w***e's talent?" Emily's joy faltered, her expression hardening. "Lisa," she began, her voice steady but cold, "your inability to appreciate professionalism and hard work is not my problem. And what would you know about attention? The only way you seem to get it is by being someone's mistress." Lisa's face twisted into a sneer, her comeback sharp and cruel. "Oh, Emily, can you blame Nathan? He probably got tired of trying to find you attractive. It's not easy loving someone who's let themselves go." Just as Emily was about to respond, Alex noticed the rising tension. The CEO and the client, who were previously engaged in conversation with him, paused as Alex excused himself and swiftly moved to Emily's side. "Excuse me, gentlemen, it seems I've forgotten to congratulate the lady of the hour properly," Alex interjected smoothly, his presence immediately cooling the heated exchange. Turning to Lisa with a sly grin, Alex's voice dripped with faux concern, "Lisa, darling, your talent for observation is as dull as your sense of fashion. Maybe focus on that before criticizing others?" His remark was a clear dismissal, wrapped in the charm of a bad boy playboy. Then, shifting his attention to Emily, his tone softened, a playful twinkle in his eye. "Emily, your work today was nothing short of brilliant. And if I may say, your dedication makes you all the more captivating." His words were a blend of flirtation and genuine admiration, a stark contrast to the hostility of moments before. The CEO and the client nodded in agreement, their brief distraction by the altercation forgotten as they joined in acknowledging Emily's success. Lisa was left to simmer in her fury, her attempts to undermine Emily thwarted yet again by Alex's timely intervention. As the crowd dispersed, Lisa's fury remained, veiled behind a mask of composure. But beneath the surface, her resolve hardened. She would not forget this humiliation, nor would she forgive. The battle lines were drawn, and Lisa was ready to wage war. Emily's downfall was inevitable, and Lisa would be the architect of it.
