“Svetlana!”
A voice thundered through the chamber before either woman could strike. Svetlana straightened her posture and turned, facing the entrance where the rest of the Council of Darkness now stood.
“Judas,” Svetlana said, her tone flat and entirely unwelcoming.
“Svetlana Romanoff, you know the law! To assault a council member is strictly forbidden!” Judas declared, his voice hard and cold.
“Unprovoked,” Svetlana replied.
“What?”
“To assault a council member unprovoked is forbidden, Judas,” Svetlana clarified. “If you intend to preach the laws of magic to me, you must first recite them accurately. Sonia threatened me. I was merely preparing to act in self-defense.”
