Everything was fading further and further into darkness; no sound could be heard until a pained scream filled my ears. As the
The scream became louder, a sense of dread washed over me and a blinding light was seen at the end of the tunnel, but darkness was
Trying to take over the light once again. I ran and ran to find the light and for my safety. The more I ran the farther off the light was from me and the darkness was swallowing more and more of the light. I was beginning to lose all hope until I heard a faint whisper through the screams.
“ Darling, the darkness will never be able to reach you but the light is not your savior. You must overcome…………”
I woke up with a jump trying to catch my breath. The sheets and my clothes were covered in sweat and I had no idea what just happened. The dream felt so real and my body felt like I just ran a marathon. My breathing slowed as I calmed myself remembering that it was all a dream but in the back of my mind I knew something was coming for me. “Zora, come down stairs it is time for us to head to the airport” I could hear my brother yelling for me as I stretched and went to get out of bed. It has always been me and him ever since that fatal accident took our parents but we knew it was no accident and have been running since the beast took them. Our family is not human but our kind has been living among humans for centuries. Me and my brother are considered outcast among our kind. We are the product of love but not just that our father was human but our mother however was a demon but not in the way the bible explains. Demons are closer to angels than the beast who do the devils work. In the real world angels and demons work together to keep everything in order. They are in control of the other supernatural creatures that roam the earth and they protect the humans from harm. The supernatural world has many rules but they are never supposed to fall in love with a human or produce a child with a human. My mom however not only fell in love she had not one but two children with our father. The thing that killed our parents was not after them, they were after me. He heard of a prophecy that there will be a daughter born of a demon and a human who will be able to harvest the power of each layer of hell and he believes it is me because my mother truly loved me and my father loved my mother. As I looked around the hotel room I felt relief that maybe this will be the last time we will have to run. While I was getting dressed I just kept thinking about how my brother has always been there. He made sure that we were safe as a promise to our mother but I know deep down he wishes that we could have had a normal childhood. Once I was dressed I grabbed my bag and went into the lobby. I called out to my brother “Damien are you ready to leave?” He was talking to this older man who was not human, which I knew was not gonna be good once they saw me. My brother took after our mother completely. His hair was dark as night and his complexion made him look as if the sun touched him. He would burst into flames. While his eyes were the most unique unlike human eyes his pupils were red and his eyes matched those of the purest smoke. He was about 6’2 in height but slender like a predatory cat. I on the other hand, took after our father. I was not short compared to most human women. I stand about 5 '11 but more on the plumpy side. My hair was the shade of fresh blood with thick curls covering my head. However, my eyes were unnatural. One looked like our father's green, as an emerald forest, but the other one was just like my brother's but with red peaking around the gray making it look as if the fire was trying to escape the smoke. When my brother heard me, he waved for me to turn around to avoid me being seen by the man he was speaking to. When he was done he walked beside me and whispered to walk outside and down the sidewalk. Once you get a block away I will meet you and we will get a cab to the airport. Do you understand? I nodded slightly and walked outside and started walking. This was not good. My anxiety was through the roof. I could feel my emotions spreading to the people around me causing others to panic. I was finally able to calm down completely as my brother walked up. As soon as he saw my face, he grabbed me in a hug and said we weren't in any trouble, but I did not want to alert them to who we were, just in case they worked with him. You know that most will not recognize me for who I truly am, but if they saw you and me, then we would be in lots of trouble. It is time. Let's get to the airport to catch our flight.
