Chapter Thirteen
She was too good to lose.
Honest. Brave.
And totally naïve to think she could come on this mission with him. There were myriad of things that could go wrong and he didn’t need her around for any of them. Her view of the world should remain pure and untarnished. Adam wanted her brightness to keep burning at all costs.
He’d lost one partner and he wasn’t about to make the same mistake. This was his job and he’d dragged her in with him far enough.
She was so adamant though. That was a new experience for him. No one before had cared enough to put themselves into possible danger for him. It led him into foreign territory and he didn’t quite know what to do.
He just knew she couldn’t come.
