Chapter 10

            “You are so retarded!”  Rachel said standing next to me as we laughed. 

    I had just arrived about ten minutes ago to pick her up.  I was modeling hats while waiting on Rachel to get off from work.

     “I really like this hat.”  “Why?  It’s ugly.”  She said snatching it off my head and putting it back on the display.  “NO, ITS NOT!  Take it back!”  I said stepping towards her as she backed away laughing.  “No it’s ugly!”  She said running away as I chased her.

 I jumped out of my skin as Kenny stepped in front of us.  “BABY! HEY!”  I said jumping into his arms kissing him as Rachel tried to stop laughing. “SHUT UP RACHEL!”  I called from Kenny’s arms making her laugh even harder.  I glanced beside them at the man staring at Rachel.  He looked so beautiful yet dangerous. 

“Hey Rachel.”  Kenny said hugging her.  “Baby don’t hug her!  She’s starving me!”  I said trying to step in between them making Rachel laugh again.  “Why are you starving my wife?”  He asked as I succeeded in squeezing between them.  “No, Kenny, she said she was hungry two hours ago and that she loved me so much she was going to wait and eat with me when I got off.  I told her to eat something and she said no she was okay and would wait.”  I looked back at the man who seemed to shiver with lust watching my sister.  “Who are you?”  I asked pulling Rachel beside me.

  We looked at Kenny’s friend.  “Oh, baby this is Cameron, my partner I was telling you about.”  “Why is he looking at my sister like he is going to eat her?”  I smiled at Rachel making her look away bashfully as Kenny laughed.  “Maybe he’s hungry for some Rachel pie.”  Kenny said as we laughed.  “Oh my God.”  Rachel mumbled walking away.  We looked at Cameron who was still mesmerized. We laughed again.

 We left the mall and went to dinner at Red lobsters.  We were waiting on our food to come while laughing and drinking.  I couldn't help but keep a protective eye on my sister and Cameron.  He was so funny and smart and insanely gorgeous.  He was inordinately attracted to Rachel and did not make it a secret.  His intensity seemed to make her uncomfortable.

“Do you have to stare at me like that?”  She asked as Kenny and I smiled at each other.  He smiled at her.  “Like what?”  “Like your impregnating me.  It’s making me uncomfortable.  I don’t know you like that.”  We all laughed except Rachel which annoyed her.  “I’m sorry if I’m making you uncomfortable.  It’s just you are so beautiful.  The only thing that makes sense is to stare at you.”  I looked at Rachel trying not to laugh as she stared at him dumbfounded.  She looked at me for a moment and then back in her menu.

  “Your boyfriend is very lucky to have you as his woman.”  “She doesn’t have a boyfriend.”  I said quickly making her look at me angrily.  She looked back at him.  “Look, I’m super flattered but not interested.” “Do you like women?”   I sat back and watched him light the fuse to my sister’s anger.  “No, you aren’t my type.”  “What’s your type?”  “Not assholes.”  He sat back and looked at her.  “I see.  What about angry bitches?  There’s many of those around.” 

            I looked at Kenny as he looked at me, and the volcano called Rachel’s temper erupted.  “Did you really just sit here and call me a b***h?”  She asked angrily as he smiled at her.  “I don’t know you like that, and I am a gentleman I would never do that.  Just like you would never call me an asshole.”  She stared at him a moment letting her fuse blow.  “How would you like my foot in your ass?”  He smirked at her. “You first.”  “Come here Sis.”  Kenny said pulling Rachel next to him.

 “So, Cameron do you have any kids?”  I asked as we tried our hardest to calm her down.  I watched him smirk in satisfaction of pissing her off.  He shifted his attention to me for a moment. “No, just my niece.”  “Really?  How old is she?”  “Eleven.”  “Oh, how neat.  You know Ms. Thang right here has a two-year-old.”  “Don’t talk to him about my baby!”  Rachel snapped making me laugh.  I looked at Cameron as he smiled at her again. 

I shook my head at him as he stared at her smitten by her anger.  He studied her anger for a moment before calling a truce.  “I am pretty sure she’s as beautiful as her mother.”  She stared at him for a moment before looking away.  “What’s her name?”  She looked at him again wondering whether to stay pissed off or get over it.  “Maryah.”  She answered.  He nodded his head.  “That’s a beautiful name.”  “Thank you.”  “Can she sing too?”  He asked making her laugh.  “She tries.”  “Yeah, Tasha swears she can sing better than Beyoncé.”  We all laughed.

 After dinner we returned home where we all watched movies until we fell asleep.  I awakened in the recliner, next to the couch, to a woman screaming her head off from the dinosaur chasing her.  I looked beside me at Rachel who was cuddled against me asleep.  On the other end of the couch was Cameron asleep.  I gently kicked Kenny, who was next to me in the recliner, awakening him. He smiled at me. I gently shifted Rachel so she was cuddling with Cameron. 

We held our breath as Cameron’s eyes popped open.  He sleepily looked at her.  When he realized it was Rachel, he pulled her closer and kissed her forehead making our mouths drop open.  I held my breath as she began to wake up as he held her.  She rested her hand on his chest next to her face and rest her leg over his thigh and they both went back to sleep.  I continued holding my breath as I watched them sleep together for a moment.  They looked like an old married couple who had been in love with each other for fifty years.  I could not help but smile at them.  They fell into a deep sleep making me breathe again. 

As I stood up over them, I noticed Cameron looking at me.  I froze as his bloodshot eyes warned me to keep my distance.  He kept his arm protectively around my sister as he watched my every move.  I waved my hand in front of him trying to break his stare, but it didn’t.  Is he even awake?  I thought as Kenny stood next to me observing everything.  We took a step back making Cameron lay his head with Rachel’s.  A minute later he was snoring again along with Rachel.

 Kenny and I looked at each other.  “She’s going to kick your ass when she wakes up.”  He whispered making me giggled as we ran to our room.
