About four days later…. Cameron             I had just pulled into my grandmother’s yard.  I marched up to the front door and banged on the door.  “Cameron?”  I looked at the side of the house where my grandmother was walking from the back with her walker.  “Is that you baby?”  “Yes, ma’am.”  I walked over to her and hugged her.  “I know why you’re here.  I’m waiting on your Auntie to take me to see her.”  “Grandma how did this happen?”  I asked as we walked to the front and sat down on the swinging bench.  “Your Aunt Selena weighed,” “Aunt Selena is a selfish,” “Cameron, watch your mouth!”  I looked away in attempt to bite my tongue.  “Now, we all sat there and talked about this Cameron.  It really was the best option.  You already know if I could take care of her I would.”  I looked at her.  “Whose idea was it to put her there in the first place?”  I asked.  “What difference does that make?”  “Tell me.  Whose idea was it?”  “Selena’s.”  “Why do you think that was?”  “Cameron, we all have health issues.”  “Except Selena and I.”  She stared at me a moment.  “I am willing to bet you she is getting some type of money or got something for putting her in that nursing home.”  She stared at me a moment as she thought about this.  “Let’s go.”  She said making her way to my truck.    I helped her inside, and we navigated out way to the Pillar Assisted Living Facility about an hour away.  Upon arrival I discovered Mom sitting outside by the lake watching the ducks wade in the pond.  She seemed to be in deep concentration watching the ducks.  I broke that concentration as I approached her.  “Hey.”  She said smiling at me.  I couldn’t help but return the smile.  “Hey Momma.” Her feet left the ground as I embraced her making her laugh.  She was only five foot six.  I was a towering six foot four.  “Nicole, you know who that is?”  Grandma asked as I finally let Mom go.  “Of course, Mom that’s my baby.”  She said kissing me.  I smiled at her.  “What are you guys doing here?”  She asked.  “I came to take you home Momma.”  I said making her look at me.  “Baby, I am home.”  I smiled at her.  “I’m getting you a new house.”  She smiled at me.  “You finally come here and now you want to spoil your Momma huh?”  She said as we laughed.  “How is California?  Where’s Tasha?  Is she with you?”  I looked from her to Grandma.  “Momma, you know I was in prison, right?”  She looked at me.  “What?”  She asked looking from me to Grandma.  “Yes, I just got out a couple of days ago.  Tasha has been staying with Sarah.”  She stared at me long and hard as I watched the anger flood her face and take over her body.  “Get me out of here.”  She growled walking towards my truck.  About two weeks later I was back in New York getting Mom settled in her new townhouse.  Tasha was upstairs getting her room together.  I was downstairs in my room hanging up my clothes in the closet when Mom walked in.  “Thank you, Cameron.  I love this place already.”  She said sitting on the bed as I smiled at her.  “Your welcome.  You know anything you want you got.”  She smiled.  “Baby, when are you going to get a girlfriend?”  She asked making me look at her.  “When I find the right woman who’s worthy of me giving them that title.  Until then you have to settle for hoes.”  She laughed as I smiled at her.  “How can I settle for them when you don’t let me meet anybody you mess with?”  “You’re not supposed to meet the hoes Momma.  You’re supposed to meet the love of my life.  When I find her, you will be one of the first people to meet her.”  She smiled at me.  “In that case I will settle for the hoes.”  She said making me laugh.  “I love you woman.”  I said sitting next to her.  “I know.”
