Chapter 12: The Empty Warehouse

884 Words
Oliver had the delivery guy bring 100 massive water barrels to his place. He then proceeded to open all the faucets in his house, filling up the barrels with water. At this rate, it seemed he could complete filling all 100 barrels within a week. Days passed, and Oliver remained busy without a moment of idleness. He spent every penny in his hands without hesitation, dining at the best restaurants, and bulk-buying meals to store in his dimensional space. During this time, he made a daily visit to the shooting range in Tianhai City, practicing archery and firearms to enhance his skills. While becoming a martial arts master in just one month was unrealistic, with a crossbow, firearms, and a super-safe house encased in a full-metal shell, he wouldn't fear any potential dangers. However, such actions did not escape the notice of those around him. Everyone considered Oliver a joke, thinking he had lost his mind and privately ridiculing him. Even Fang Yuqing deliberately distanced herself from Oliver, unwilling to communicate with him. As time passed day by day, over twenty days flew by quickly, and the impending apocalypse was drawing near. Oliver had amassed a massive amount of supplies, including food, weapons, and heating equipment. However, these alone couldn't provide him with enough reassurance. Oliver decided to target the giant warehouse of Walmart. Seizing control of this warehouse would grant him a wealth of supplies that could last for generations. So, Oliver returned to the warehouse and resumed his normal shifts. Walmart's warehouse was staffed 24 hours, but the night shift only had about ten people on duty. Oliver decided to employ the most straightforward method: adding sleeping pills to their tea. Given that the apocalypse was less than a week away, he wasn't afraid of being caught. Since these people were familiar to Oliver, he easily succeeded in his plan. Once the drugs took effect, they all fell into a deep sleep. Oliver then went to the control room and disabled all the cameras in the warehouse. After completing these tasks, he swiftly arrived at the warehouse. Facing the enormous space, Oliver took a deep breath and began collecting the supplies. Just by scanning with his right eye, any shelf he focused on would appear in his dimensional space with a single thought. Oliver started with the beverage section, storing tens of thousands of tons of mineral water, beverages, and alcoholic drinks, including high-end red wines and spirits. Oliver didn't discriminate; he loaded everything into his warehouse. Thousands of cubic meters of drinks disappeared in no time. Next was the fuel area for household use, with plenty of smokeless coal, barrels of gasoline, and alcohol. Oliver seized everything, and just the smokeless coal alone could last him a hundred years. Oliver, using his years of warehousing expertise, efficiently organized the items in his dimensional space. In the third step, he moved to the food section, with tens of thousands of tons of canned food, packaged roast chicken, roast duck, snacks, and convenience foods. Oliver grabbed whatever he could, and in a short time, the colossal amount of food vanished. Lastly, he went to the sports equipment section. Though limited by the space in his safe house, Oliver didn't hold back. He even took some specialized items, such as baseball bats and fencing equipment, which could serve as effective weapons. During the collection, Oliver stumbled upon some exceptional items, including skiing and mountaineering equipment. Among them were professional-grade cold-resistant suits capable of withstanding temperatures as low as minus one hundred degrees Celsius. Oliver's eyes lit up. After the ice apocalypse, these were top-notch cold-resistant equipment! Without hesitation, he collected dozens of sets of these premium cold-resistant suits and sleeping bags. After two hours of relentless collecting, Oliver had emptied the Walmart warehouse, covering an area of millions of square meters. Satisfied, Oliver looked at the vast and empty warehouse. Now, even in the coldest ice age, he had the confidence to live comfortably. Returning to his post, Oliver drank a cup of tea with sleeping pills and laid his head on the table, falling into a deep sleep. After an unknown amount of time, he was abruptly awakened by someone urgently shaking him. "Supervisor, supervisor, something big happened, wake up!" Oliver slowly opened his eyes, looking confused at the coworkers in front of him. "What's going on?" A warehouse employee, trembling, pointed at the warehouse and said, "It's unbelievable! Our warehouse has been completely emptied!" "What!" Oliver, with a surprised expression, stood up and pretended to be anxious. He approached the warehouse, visibly shocked by the emptiness before him. Oliver, with apparent concern, said, "This is too bizarre; we can't handle this ourselves. Let's call the higher-ups!" Although the employees were nervous, they felt relieved that the responsibility wasn't solely on them. The total value of the entire warehouse, disappearing in just two hours, was clearly beyond their capability. Earning only a few thousand yuan per month, they had no reason to go all out for the company. So, with Oliver's suggestion, everyone nodded in agreement. This mess would be left for the higher-ups to deal with! Oliver immediately called the warehouse manager to report the incident. The manager, upon hearing the news, was dumbfounded. He even thought Oliver was joking with him.
