Chapter 23
Alyna bolted upright, gasping and panting. She saw Ben grinning at her, but before she could make a move, he said, “Remember, I risked my neck to save your pretty ass, Alyna. So you should think twice before you kick mine.”
She jumped off the bed. “Where’s Caedmon?” she asked and rushed toward the door.
“You’re welcome,” Ben said and headed toward the kitchen to make himself something to eat.
Alyna was back, standing at the door. “I meant to say thank you. I know you’re always looking out for me, and I appreciate it. I’ll do the same for you. I promise.”
He nodded.
She nodded her goodbye and left the apartment.
Caedmon used his microchip to help navigate to a medical center. He carried Leanne in his arms. She was so quiet it scared him. She was no longer gasping for air.
