A FATAL MISTAKE: AURORA: My eyes fluttered open, I felt a sharp pain course through my head and then, suddenly stopped. My head feels heavy like a heap of stones were placed on it. I blink in the haze, trying to make sense of where I was. Sunlight pierced through the thin holes of the matted cover that shielded it from entirely illuminating the room. The strong scent of herbs hit me, making me feel nauseous and dizzy at the same time. ‘Where am I?’ I remember falling and giving myself away to the cold fate that awaited me beyond the cliff. My body ached, not as much as I remember it feeling. "Wolf?" I quietly called just to confirm if I indeed became Dyna’s fool. Just as expected, nothing happens. My heart ached, how could I have been so stupid? And who had saved me, was it Lucien? I look around for a sign, this place looks nothing like the hole I slept in. My eyes fell on a tall masculine figure leaning against the wall of the dimly lit corner of the room, watching me with crimson glowing eyes like a predator watching his prey–and it certainly wasn't Lucien. My instincts flared,I sprang up from the bed and grabbed the first thing my hand could reach as a weapon — a wooden dagger! "Who are you?" I ask, pointing the dagger at him. "You're awake, I see" His voice–deep, steady and brazen–unsettled me. "Who...who are you?" My trembling voice betrays the toughness I was trying so hard to project. “Your Saviour” He says, stepping forward into the much brighter part of the room. I swallowed hard as my throat suddenly felt dry. I had misjudged, the dark corner had deceived me. He was taller than he seemed before, taller than most of the men I had seen—Even Lucien. His body rippled with strength as he moved. "Stand back! I wouldn't come any closer if I were you" I warn,a weak threat that I pray does not provoke him. He could disarm me in seconds if he wishes to. He abruptly stops in his steps. ‘Did that actually work?’ "That is no way to talk to your Saviour. Now, I wouldn't do that if I WERE YOU." He picks up a cup and pours a dark liquid substance into it. I felt foolish immediately to think my threat could've worked on a wolf like him. "Here," He offers, "Drink this to clear your throat and head" "What is that? For all I know it could be poison to kill me. Dyna sent you, didn't she?" "I have no idea who you speak of but If I wanted to kill you, you'd be long gone by now and your body a feast for the dogs rather than waking up in my bed little wolf" He growls. 'in his bed?' his words sank into me as I lowered my guard. Had I been defiled?! My eyes widened and my thoughts raced. Could he, a man who can possibly command hundreds of women to his bed with those alluring red eyes of his, take advantage of a poor low life wolf, like myself, in her unconscious state? "You–you didn't –" I tried to say the words but it felt heavier on my lips than it did in my head. "Don't flatter yourself, you do not appeal to my s****l senses. Now take this!" His words stung like a tip of a silver knife to the flesh even though I was more relieved to hear them. I stretched my hand and reached for the cup. Gulping it down, it had no taste at first and then, it started to taste sour. "Where am I?" "Your bruises, what happened to you?" He asks, ignoring my question. "Nothing” I turned my gaze down from his. "I will not take that for an answer, little wolf " "I fell off a cliff" "Pushed?" "No, I slipped " I lied, too embarrassed to admit my failure to shift or talk about my ill fate. "You slipped?" His voice hinted disbelief at my words. "I was walking in the woods, wandering, I didn't see clearly and so I slipped on the soft surface and fell." "I found you on a night of a full moon, little wolf, how did you not see the ground at your feet?" He snarled, baring his fangs out from the hold of a strong jawline that threatened to crush me in seconds, I could tell he was fastly catching up with my poor woven lies. He moved swiftly closer to me, too swiftly. I panicked and held up the dagger still in my hand, hoping it would somehow shield me from him. The dagger pierced into his flesh before I realised what I had done. He seethes a low, dangerous sound and pulls me by the neck, his eyes flaring. A faint gasp managed to escape my throat. The closer he pulled, the deeper the knife dug into his chest. He didn't flinch or act like he felt the pain, his expression was cold and deadly. I held tightly to the other end of the dagger, too scared to let go. "Those who had dared to do this never saw the sun rise again. Thank the goddess you serve purpose." He scowls He reached up with his free hand and pulled out the knife, tossing it to the ground. loosening his grip, leaned close and sniffed the base of my neck. My heart pounded. 'What is he doing?'. His cold breath tingled my skin each time he exhaled, making me nervous. "Tell me," His voice low against my ear, "what exactly happened before you... Slipped?" He asks, turning sideways to look at me "I was enjoying a walk and night scenery out the mountain " I repeat, looking back at him and making sure my gaze does not falter even though it felt like he could already see through my soul. I blink, a fatal mistake. His fangs dug into my flesh and his hand held my neck still. A sharp pain coursed through my veins and then, no more. He stares at me with a displeased look on his face. My blood dripped from the tip of his fangs and without a word, he walked out of the room.
