Caroline Lynn stood outside the executive administration office of Ascension Corp, her manicured fingers digging into the leather strap of her handbag hard enough to leave faint crescent dents. Around her, Martha Pierce, Howard Lynn, and the other core members of The Lynn Family waited in a loose cluster, trying to look composed, successful, and worthy of the gleaming corporate empire they had just re-entered.
Their onboarding profiles had already been uploaded into the company’s system. The final formalities—ID photos, access badges, digital credentials—were all that remained. In a few minutes, they would officially belong to Ascension Corp, headquartered inside The Zenith Tower, the beating heart of Haven City’s Financial District.
