Chapter 7

Phoenix POV

As soon as we got into bed, I could feel her tension build. She was nervous and confused so I wrapped my arm around her and pulled her in, by instinct. I didn't realize what I was doing until I had her curled up right beside me, and breathed in her intoxicating scent of sweet lavender. She says "It feels like home" and then falls into a deep heavy sleep. Home... What does that mean? It means she feels the mate bond too Jet says in my head. Jet, it is impossible for a Lycan to mate with a human, let alone a Lycan Prince. The Moon Goddess pairs our bloodline with Lycans, and every now and then, a wolf. Not a human. Maybe there is something we don't know about her.

I put our conversation to the back of my mind, so that I can fall asleep to the sound of her calm breathing rhythm.

Emilys POV

My alarm on my phone goes off at 7 AM. Oh crap!! Work! I look next to me, and feel a pang in my chest, noticing Phoenix is no longer in bed with me. It feels awfully familiar to wake up to an empty cold bed. I stand up, and walk to the bathroom and turn on the shower. Taking a warm shower and washing off all of the bad memories from last night, would be a great start to the morning. After getting out, I wrap the towel around my body and forget I didn't bring any clothes into this room.

I figure Phoenix left either last night or early this morning, so I go to cross the hall to my master bedroom and stop in embarrassment and shock as Phoenix is walking up the stairs. "Phoenix... hey.. I... I thought you left. I.... left my clothes in the other room um.." He stares at me with dark and stormy steel blue eyes, that look like they are starving. It makes my stomach flutter with excitement and my heart starts racing. He closes his eyes for a few seconds then looks back at me and his eyes are back to a deep blue again.

"Sorry I woke up early to a call, and thought I would make us some coffee" He hands me a cup of coffee that smells like heaven. "Oh, thank you so much! I'll go and get dressed for work". I head into the bathroom, where the closet is, throw on a pair of ripped light blue jeans with a tight black tank top and an oversized black cardigan. Throw my hair into a high pony tail and apply some light make up. I open the door and see he is sitting on the edge of the bed waiting for me.

"You didn't have to wait for me" I say with a small smile unsure of what he is thinking. "I wanted to, come lets go have breakfast and I will take you to work". "Oh no no, I can take the bus. It's really okay, I take the bus every day" I retort. "Did you not have a car before that douchebag ex of yours?" he replies almost in an irritated voice. "He has a car.... I..don't" It almost sounds like a growl escapes his lungs and his eyes look like they change to... black? is that black? I take step back, and feel fear for the first time with him, but he notices my change in emotion and calms himself down.

"Here.. I made some eggs and toast for breakfast. I'm not exactly a good cook, nor do I know how to make much of anything. My house cook she.. uh never mind." House cook... he has a personal chef? I push that to the back of my mind to ask him about that later. "It looks delicious, thank you" I carefully take a seat at the table not knowing if he has calm down completely yet.

After eating I stand up to go to the cabinet with my vitamins, I place them on the counter to go and grab a glass of water. Phoenix stands up, grabs one of the bottles of vitamins and reads the back "What the hell is this??" he is back to anger, and I can see the black color in his eyes return. I walk backwards until I hit the kitchen wall. He stalks towards me and puts the bottle in front of my face. "Emily, tell me what this is and why you take it??" "I.. Uh... My parents.. they gave it to me as a child. Said that the doctor prescribed it to me, to keep control of my stress levels. She sends them to me every month"

He walks to the kitchen sink and pours all of them down the garbage disposal and turns it on. "What the hell Phoenix??? What is wrong with you. Have you lost your damn mind?" Now I'm fuming, my rage has consumed me whole. I run up to him and push him as hard as I could and he doesn't even budge.

Phoenix POV

I feel my blood boil with pure rage, while Jet is ready to make an appearance at any moment. I need to calm down, but I cant. When I picked up that bottle I knew what it was right away. I could sense the wolfsbane in the kitchen, I felt it was in the room before I even saw those capsules on the counter. Her parents have been feeding my Mate wolfsbane since she was a kid. Now you believe me. Mate. Jet says still fuming in my head. Yes Jet, you are right. She is a wolf, she just doesn't know. At least I don't think she knows.

"Emily, do you know what this is" I try to sound more calm in my voice then before. "I just told you Phoenix!!!" She's yelling "They are vitamins to help control my stress, I was a very stressed child, and it maintains my stress levels". "No Little Dove..." I reach out to gently caress the sides of her arms and she instantly relaxes against my touch. "There is much more to this vitamin then I believe you know. But I don't know if you are ready to know about it just yet." She stares at me confused, but controlled. "How about this...How about I pick you up after your shift at the library, and I take you out to dinner and explain some things." She looks at me with soft eyes, then they turn into confusion with scrunched in eyebrows.

"Wait... How do you know that I work at the Library?" s**t "Oh my gosh, I knew that was you! I knew I saw you there yesterday! You followed me?" Shock, pure shock all over her face. "No... I just.. I love to read, and wanted to pick up a new book. I just so happened to notice you were working there." She rolls her eyes and laughs. Her laugh is absolutely beautiful, it's the first time I have ever heard it before.

"What time does your shift end at the Library Little Dove?" "5PM...usually. Unless Mr. Landon needs extra help, which isn't every day" she replies. "Well, then I will pick you up then, and bring you home to get ready" She shakes her head, and tries to speak up and say no..."I won't take no for an answer. She stops and gives a small smile. She is so beautiful.

We clean up the dishes together and put them away just in time to head out. It's a very short drive to get to town, I hadn't realized how close she lived. I pull up in a spot close to the front entrance of Morning Rise as she grabs her bag, and I reach out to touch her arm, she stops. The electricity flows through us, and it feels like pure bliss. She is my mate, and she doesn't understand what that means. My future Queen. As long as she accepts us Jet replies back.

She looks up into my eyes and I see her eye color change for a brief moment from her beautiful forest green to a stunning gold. Her breathing hitched. "Th....thank you, for the ride Phoenix. I'm looking forward to later" She says still holding my gaze. "It was my pleasure Little Dove, I cant wait to see you later." I put my hand on her chin to pull her in gently, just a bit and place a kiss on her forehead. My lips heat up at the touch of her skin.
