Chapter 19

Phoenix POV

"Any word on Alison?" I turn to Isaac who is sitting outside of the Lycan medical center door when I walk out. "Not yet, her parents went into hiding after finding out about her schemes. Apparently this isn't the first time she has handed over an innocent girl to Sampson. Chase has extracted more information out of him, but he seems to have no idea as to where she would be hiding"

"Keep me informed. Once we get a better idea of her location, I'll hunt her down myself. And Isaac, I want men searching for the other women he has taken. They need to found, treated for any wounds and released" He nods and walks away.

These past few days have been the ultimate hell. When we were on our way home it was too much for Amber to handle and she involuntarily shifted back and collapsed. Jaxon picked up her body up and placed her on my back as I mind linked Jared to inform staff at home to get the medical center ready for our arrival.

She was so battered from the beatings and that bastard scarred her side with burns from wolfsbane, but the doctor said there was no internal bleeding. She just wouldn't wake up. 24 hours of pure stress and guilt waiting for my mate to open her beautiful forest green eyes, only for her to wake in pure horror with screams. My heart hurts knowing what she had to go through. His disgusting hands touching her beautiful skin. I smelled his scent all over her which made my blood boil in rage.

I want to kill the bastard, but he needs to feel slow pain first, like he did to my little dove. He needs to scream and plead for his life and watch as I take it from him.

"Sir, Mr and Mrs. Grey are here to see Emily" Phillip says bringing me out of my thoughts. "Oh good, please send them up. I'm sure she will be grateful to see them." "Yes sir!"

Emily's parents walk up the stairs hand in hand, her father supporting her crying mother looking small and brittle, most likely from the fear of the danger her daughter was in. "Mr. Grey... I'm so sorry. This shouldn't be.." I try to find the right words as he puts his hand up to stop me. "It's fine, please show us to our daughter." He sternly replies and I'm taken aback, as nobody ever interrupts me. "Yes, of course, right this way." I put a hand out, showing them which door to enter.

Emily's POV

Claire finishes dressing my wounds, she says they are already doing much better, thanks to the Lycan bond, but the scarring will take longer to heal. I'm so thankful she is here helping me.

"Emily?" a shaky soft familiar voice comes from the door. "Mom! Dad!" Instantly the tears fall from my face as they rush over to me and carefully hug me. "I'm so sorry Emily, I'm so sorry this happened to you" My mother says sobbing into my hospital blanket on my lap as I rub the back of her head. "It's okay Mom, I'm fine! I'm alive!" "We are here to take you back home" My dad states and Claire turns to him in shock, but continues to listen.

"What are you talking about Dad? This is where I need to be, with my Mate!" my tone sounding confused. "That's the problem, you were not supposed to live this life, you were suppose to live a normal life, with normal people! Not a life of danger. And now... what? You Mate with a royal who can't even properly keep you safe?" He yells out, as Claire observes silently from the sideline. "Dear, please don't" my mom cries out in an attempt to intervene but he cuts her off. "Don't try to make excuses for her about this, she needs to understand."

"I am not going back home right now. And don't you dare put the blame on Phoenix. He did Not put me in danger, it was You who put me in danger. If I would have known for the past 23 years who and what I was, I would have been able to protect myself. But You kept me away from Amber, You kept me away from who I am!" I yell back at him in a tone more fierce than I expected. I can feel my heart rate pick up, and heat rise in my body.

As my eyes change from its normal shade of green to a glowing gold, my mother takes a step back and looks at my face. Claire looks at me with adoring eyes as she admires mine.

Closing my eyes for a brief moment and reopening them to calm my wolf, I take a deep breath. "I love him, and if you can't accept that, that is unfortunate, but I will not be leaving him." I calmly say as I look at my father who has tears threatening to fall in his eyes. "I'm sorry Emily...I...just wanted a better life for you, than what we had. Safety and love." "I have Always had that, with you and Mom, but I also have that here, with the Sterling's." He walks over to me, takes my hand with a light squeeze and kisses me on the forehead.

"Well this was certainly eventful, but our dear Emily needs her rest. Let us leave her be for now. I will set up a guest room for you and I hope you will join us for dinner tonight Mr. and Mrs. Grey" Claire says as she ushers them out of the room and looks back towards me to give me a wink. I give her a loving smile back, knowing she did all of this for me. She really is a caring woman, no wonder her people adore her.

After some time of resting my eyes, Phoenix walks in with a glass of water. "Hello little dove, how are you feeling?" His beautiful smile bright, but worry shows in his eyes. "I'm doing so much better! Actually I would really like to get out of here" I say standing up confidently. He rushes to my side and puts an arm around my waist as a warm sensation rushes down my spine from his touch. "mmm, I love how I effect you little dove" he whispers in my ear and my face turns a shade of pink.

He leans down and kisses me gently, warmth spreads throughout my body as he deepens the kiss. Pulling away to catch my breath, he plants kisses down my neck as I involuntarily let out a moan. "You effect me just as much my little fighter" he whispers into my ear as I giggle.

Giving one more kiss on my lips he pulls his face away leaving me wanting more, and takes my hand, "If you are sure that you're feeling better we can make our way out of here before things get too steamy in this little medical room" I nod my head as my face turns crimson.

He leads us up to our room and gives me another kiss on the cheek, "alright little dove, you go freshen up, I have to meet with my father briefly before dinner. Your parents are on the 3rd floor in the guest room, they will be joining us for dinner as well... my mother convinced them to."

He turns to leave and I grab his hand. "Phoenix, wait... I'm sorry about what my father said about you." My tone is quiet, almost a whisper as I let my head fall looking at the floor. His hand reaches to my chin and lifts it slightly to look at him. His eyebrows pinched together with a more serious look.

"Do not apologize Emily. He was right, I didn't protect you. I couldn't protect you. But I know one things for sure, I will never allow anyone to ever hurt or touch you, ever again. I can't lose you Emily...Your father was worried, and scared. I would have been more surprised if he Didn't say those things."

I wrap my arms around him in a tight hug and breath in his cedar wood scent. "I also heard something else while standing outside that door during the conversation" looking up to meet his eyes, I notice the confident smirk etched across his beautiful face. I know Exactly what this man is talking about. Oh crap... I did say that word didn't I.. oh my gosh, and in front of his Mother too. Stupid Emily!

"Oh...um.. What? I don't know what you're talking about... go, go now. I need to shower and get cleaned up, don't want you to miss your meeting with your father!" I push him, but he doesn't budge and he laughs hysterically. "Okay, okay I can take a hint!! See you in a little bit little dove." Phoenix walks off still laughing, and I proceed to the bathroom to clean myself up.
