Tadamichi looked down at his brother just as Hyakuhei looked up at them. The pain in Hyakuhei’s eyes was so vivid that it hurt to look upon them. He could feel the priestess watching him and he turned back to gaze at her.
She was as beautiful as the last time he saw her with her guardians. Her eyes shone with the same pain as they had that day… the day they were forced to acknowledge their love would never be. Tadamichi knew his eyes shone with the agony of that separation and it made his chest ache. For too long he’d only dreamed of holding her in his arms, safe from everything that would bring her harm.
