“Claire, this is Tony and Cole. Cole will be travelling with you.”
He nodded and offered a slight smile, “Nice to meet you.”
It’s difficult to get a read on her, Cole thought. She seemed to offer just a passing glance at each of these men now seated around the kitchen table and seemed wholly unimpressed by either their background or the impending trip.
“Nice to meet you too,” was all she said back, albeit with a friendly tone.
“I’ve got one more bag to grab, and I’ll be ready.”
Gail nodded and smiled at her, watching Claire walk out of the kitchen, down the hallway to the staircase and up. It was the first facial expression he’d seen from Gail that showed any indication of fondness for anything. There was a connection between the two of them, but what that connection was Cole couldn’t
