PROLOGUE: THE NIGHT THAT TOOK EVERYTHING

209 Words
The night was quiet, too quiet, the kind of quiet that gnawed at the edges of your mind, warning you that something was coming. Elara had barely fallen asleep when the first crash split the silence. Glass shattered, screams tore through the air, and firelight flickered in the darkness. Her heart pounded as she grabbed Lyra’s hand. “Run,” their mother whispered, her face pale but determined. “Now!. Do not look back!” Barefoot, they fled into the cold, night air, lungs burning, adrenaline ripping through them. Behind them, their world burned—their parents were gone, their home destroyed, everything they had known reduced to smoke and ash. Only the shadow of their grandfather, Matteo Russo, waited at the edge of their lives. He swept them into his arms, eyes dark, full of silent rage and determination. “You will survive. You will learn. Justice will be served and One day… they will pay.” Elara’s fists clenched so tightly that her knuckles turned white as she looked at her twin sister with tears in her eyes. The vow formed in her heart like steel: she would survive, she would grow stronger, and one day, she would make the people who destroyed her life regret it.
