Scars, almost every kid in the twenty-first century has them. Whether they are shown or not, physical or mental. Everyone has them now. It's scary to think that no matter how many times we might walk by someone who has the brightest smile on their face, yet they carry the darkest secret ever. That's an everyday nightmare for Hailey, she paints on the most jaw-dropping smile, and makes it seem like her entire world isn't falling apart, even though her dad, someone who is supposed to protect her, is the monster that haunts her dreams. When she was only eight years old, her dad snuck into her room, late that night, and destroyed her innocence. Ruined everything she ever hoped for. Took it all away, and he didn't once stop to think about what it would do to her, he BROKE his own child, before the world had even the slightest chance to do anything, but then again, the world still managed to destroy her. When she was eleven, her mother overdosed and died, the night of her birthday. She never looked at life the same. It was one thing to lose her innocence at such a young age, but to lose her best friend as well. That was her breaking point, the moment she realized that trusting people, loving people, and opening up to people, causes nothing but pain and suffering. She might have decided to stop trusting people a long time ago, but that was before Colton James came into her life. Cole is surrounded by demons. They lurk in every corner of his mind. He can't escape them, so instead, he made his peace with them. He lets them control his every decision, his every move. That was until a small brown haired girl with a broken smile walked right into his life. Cole used to say love at first sight doesn't exist, well Hailey proved him wrong. It was as if everything else faded away whenever she walked into the room, all he ever saw was her.
