Annabel stretched her arms, ignoring the numb ache in her shoulder. Ever since that night four days ago, her shoulder still bothered her, but she hoped that the rest and a lack of violent encounters would allow it to heal quickly. She had run to Brian’s room after leaving Damien’s, not sure where else to go. He had asked questions, too many questions, and she couldn’t give him any of the answers. After healing her as much as his abilities allowed him, Annabel left him without explanation. She had gathered all the research, William’s box, and some clothes, and left the Compound. She had to stay low for a while, buying herself time to rethink her position before making a final decision.
