Young Amelia

1101 Words
Amelia had never been in this much distress in her life. Her daughter continued to ignore her for the past two days. What had she done to deserve this silent treatment from her daughter?! She checked her i********: posts to see if she was really alright or not.  Her daughter was living her life as usual. This morning she had posted a story of herself in Starbucks with some unknown guy. Was this her new boyfriend?! But Ivy wasn't the type to have boyfriends. Maybe he was a one-time thing for her! Amelia didn't like this! She wanted her daughter to have a meaningful relationship with someone she likes. She can't just be partying around forever! And now that Amelia didn't respond to her, she was even more frustrated with her daughter.  She blamed her husband for this. He was the one who spoiled her daughter by giving her everything that she needed. Amelia sometimes even envied her daughter's life. She didn't grow up in a luxurious family. Her father was a drug dealer and so was her mother.  When Amelia was young, both of them were actively involved in such cartel activities. Her father was imprisoned twice and got released later, while her mother was lucky enough to stay out of the prison. During her teenage years, Amelia was scared that her parents would one day get in serious trouble either from the cops or from the cartels.  And her worst fear came true. When she was sixteen, both of their parents got killed by the rival cartels. Then she had no one to take care of her. Her relatives ignored her as she was a drug dealer's daughter. Associating with her could lead them to trouble!  Young Amelia had nowhere to go! She couldn't stay in her house as her parents' killer could come after her to finish her too. So she had run out of her house with a few clothes and food. Unfortunately, she was too pretty to be homeless.  Even though Amelia was just sixteen, she had curves in her right places and she looked attractive. Even in her school, she was a  popular girl. She was not made to sleep in the streets. One day a gang of drunk men found her walking in the streets with a bag. They started following her! In order to save herself, young Amelia ran for her life! She jumped inside a house and hid under the bed of someone's room. She had no idea whose house it was. Yet she didn't care. People in this house couldn't be more dangerous than the monsters outside!  After a while, the door of the room opened and she saw a pair of shoes walking to the men. It was a man's shoes! Amelia cursed her luck. Why should he have to be a man?! She didn't move a muscle while she was hiding under the bed.  And her bad luck didn't last! The young man had dropped his phone on the floor. So he bent down to pick it up. That's when he noticed her hiding under the bed. The young man couldn't believe his eyes. What was a pretty girl doing under his bed?! She got out from her hiding and raised her hands up. "Please don't call the cops! I will get out of here," she said and picked up her bag from the floor.  "Wait," the young man halted her. "Who are you?! Why were you hiding here?!"  The man was pretty sure that she wasn't a robber. A pretty girl like her couldn't be a robber! Then the girl said everything about her story. She should not trust this young man. But still, she felt comfortable with him.  He was nothing like the guys who chased her in the streets. He seemed to be in his early twenties and he had the look of a handsome and decent guy. After she said her story to him, she fainted down on the floor. She hadn't eaten anything for two days!  When she woke up, she was lying on his bed and the young man even offered her food. And it turned out that the young man was living alone in the house. He worked as an accountant in a corporate office. And his name was Oliver Brown! Oliver said that Amelia could stay in his house as long as she wants. He even paid for her education and took good care of her as if he were her older brother. But Amelia didn't want him to be his brother. She started developing feelings for him. And he liked her too! Though Oliver refused to admit his feelings for her at the beginning, later he came around and they both became one! After Amelia turned eighteen, she and Oliver got married. She got pregnant with Ivy the very next year and when she became twenty, she was a full-time mother. Oliver was not just her husband—but he was also her guardian angel. And Ivy was the new hope for her life. Once they succeeded in bringing up the Brown Industries, Amelia thought that they could offer a life of luxury for her daughter. And she grew up like a princess. But she didn't expect to spoil her daughter in this process. When will her daughter grow up and see the real world?! Amelia still blamed Oliver for this! She took out her phone again to call her husband. She disliked arguing with her husband—as he was not just her love of life—he was her guardian angel. But she has to do something to revive Ivy! Or else she will be responsible for spoiling her daughter's life. But even before she could call her husband, she got a call from Ivy. She was surprised! Her daughter was calling her?! She immediately attended the call. "Mom, how are you doing?! I am in Belize now," her daughter said.  "What?! Belize?! Why would you go there now?! Haven't you had enough vacations over the year!" "Yeah, I did! But I want to enjoy. I just graduated college and shouldn't I deserve a celebration for that?!" "Whatever! Come home soon!" "Okay, I'll call you later!" Then she heard a beep sound as her daughter hung up her call. For some strange reason, Amelia felt that her daughter's voice was different. What happened to her voice?! Or maybe she was just overthinking it. She should be happy that her daughter cared enough to talk to for two minutes on the phone while she was partying on some island.
