As we came downstairs we first noticed everyone in the living room sitting comfortably, talking and laughing. Jack came up with a glass of champagne for Lochlan and I, giving us a warm smile as we took the glasses from him. Loch and I were still tense from the letter that was on my bed, but we knew this was not the time to bring it up. Of course Jack noticed the tension on my face and I tried to put him at ease with a smile and mouthing 'later' to him. He seemed ok with this response and nodded.
