“ Mo Ang! Mo Ang! “, came a loud hoarse voice from the entrance. I and Jasmine hid behind the curtains and beside the door. A man entered. Burly built and shaved head with tattoos on his neck and a silver chain dangled from his wrist. He was limping slowly. Rumi aka Mo Ying was one of the rapists and killers.
" Mo Ang. I have told you not to call me. Boss has repeatedly warned him to stay aloof from all. You cant even manage a f*****g cat, are you?", he came in shouting.
Before I could say or speak anything, a series of events took place.
Jasmine ran out sharp at him and kicked him on his back. He stumbled forward in surprise. Before he could his arm to hit her, she banged at him a punch straight at his face, on his temple.
" OW! What the f**k? Who-"
Then he looked at her and blood drained from his face.
" Remember me babe? ", Jasmine gritted her teeth and shouted at him.
" How? Whoa? ", he was out of breathing. Jasmine aimed another kick and blocked him with her leg. She hit him on his leg that was shot the last night. She was stronger. Or maybe it’s the morphine. Khwajim simply sat on the couch beside Mo Ang and watch with amazement. I came out of my hiding place and aimed my gun at Rumi.
" Rumi you are under arrest. Stop it and surrender."
Then something extraordinary happened. Jasmine pouched upon him and held his neck from behind.
" I am not gonna leave you alone Bastard."
She aimed a kick on his shin so hard that he literally cried out in pain. She was small, sleek, and faster than him. With one swift movement, she whirled and kicked his underbelly. Rumi fought back with a rage. He grabbed one fistful of her hair and tugged her into him.
" Rumi", I shouted. "let her go. Or else I will shoot".
He didn’t let her go. instead, he jammed a fist onto her ribs and Jasmine shrieked in pain. She used her legs and kicked a reverse one straight at his balls.
He stumbled. That one second was enough for her. She swiftly flew towards me and without even asking, snatched the gun from my hand and fired a shot straight at his leg.
" Ouch! It hurts! It hurts! ", he fell on the floor holding his right leg where the bullet went in.
Jasmine fired another shot. On his other leg.
He howled in pain. Clutching both his legs he cried out a volley of words which I better don’t mention.
"Jasmine what did you do? We have to arrest him. You cant shoot anyone like that. It's against law", Khwajim said after some time. He was amused by seeing Jasmine in action.
" f**k the law! ", she cried at him. Anger and frustration seemed trying to explode from her red eyes.
" When had the law saved anyone? Lenus died. Woori died. This piece of s**t would die too if we take him back to prison. Why the f**k is this happening? Nobody cares for law anymore".
She was right. Being a policeman for the first time I felt helpless. I felt powerless. I felt as if there is nothing to hold upon. All laws of the land are crumbling and FTH is simply playing a wild goose chase.
" You won't say anything to her? ", Khwajim asked me expectantly.
I shook my head. She deserved to take an upper hand on this case too. She deserves to release her rage. This was the only way to give her the peace that she needed.
Jasmine slowly went towards him and placed afoot upon his injured part. The heel pierced into his flesh. He started to howl.
" Do you like it? ", she pressed harder. " Say it. Do you like it? "
Rumi continued howling painfully. His face was pale in pain and he gritted his teeth and panted loudly.
" Please don’t kill me."
" Why shouldn’t we? Why? tell me why?", Jasmine kicked on his bleeding face.
" Please. I have no fault. Our Boss makes us do things."
Jasmine pressed harder..she stood with both legs upon him giving her full weight on his bleeding flesh.
" Do you know how I felt when you f****d me that night? It's just like this. I too bled just like this."
She lashed upon him, never giving him any time to retaliate, never giving him any moment to utter a word in protest. She took a vase from a nearby window and hit him with it. Khwajim, Mo Ang, and I all simply watched the program. I let her do whatever she wanted. Her revenge was way deeper than anything.
I knew if I could take Rumi with us to the city and put him in jail, he would be killed by the dead of the night just like Lenus and Woori. It was useless to arrest him. No one was safe with the Boss still on loose.
Seeing Jasmine avenging her wrongdoings upon Rumi made me wonder how the f**k she would react when we catch hold of Frank Ting. Probably she would beat him to death.
"Please stop hitting my brother. Take him to prison. But please, he needs medical attention", Mo Ang shouted in tears. He loved his brother perhaps too much. he was ready to be the witness in court. He was ready to reveal every deed and act of his brother in court. But all he wanted was his life.
I went to Jasmine who was brutally kicking and swearing at Rumi and touched her shoulder. She looked at me with raging eyes but she understood what I intended to say.
We pulled him and made him sat on the couch. He was bleeding profusely. His face was full of welts and punch marks. The places where the bullets had pierced him, looked like two gaping holes.
" Speak! ", I ordered.
" I am a contract killer. Their name is Mo Ying. I am hired by FTH for all the contracts and deliveries. Just like Lenus and others. After that incident, the boss ordered us to go back to hiding until furthers notice comes. He called yesterday to say that you are here in search of me. I went to a prostitute’s gig to hide."
Jasmine started to laugh. " Why did you came to kill me yesterday night?"
" I was ordered for it. Boss called me and said that you are alone in the hotel and finishing you off would be easy. So I went. But you proved me wrong. You shot me in my leg. And today again I got shot twice."
We looked at each other. Everything fell into pieces. Frank was keeping an eye on everything. All our activities were observed .this was a game of chess and we were continuously being checkmated from all sides.
Suddenly the phone began to ring. Mo Ying’s mobile. A private anonymous number.
I picked up the phone and pressed the speaker button.
" Hello, Michael". A slow deep baritone voice echoed throughout the silenced room.
" Hello, Frank ", I smiled.
" I was waiting for your call".
