Pools of Blood

Preface

Time: 01:45 AM

It was in the dead of the night. A strong cold gust of wind was blowing.  A storm was on its way, brewing slowly venting its rage into the city. Something has happened and Nature is howling in anger. There was a rush. Alarms were blaring. Nurses and doctors were running towards the main gate of the hospital. An ambulance came in. Horns were blaring. Cameras flashed and there was chaos all around. Reporters were trying to get a glimpse of the patient. Someone pushed a stretcher to bring down the patient from the vehicle. A white shrouded body was gently placed on it. It was covered in blood. Pools of blood dripping from the white cover making large red stains. A bunch of black, long tresses of hair covered her face from public view. The patient was rushed into the hospital building, with doctors and nurses trailing behind. Straight into the operating room of the hospital.

Who was she? Why were the doctors and nurses so panicked about her? Why were there pools of blood everywhere?  What has happened in the city of Seoul at this ungodly hour of the wintry night? An Assault? Domestic violence?  Or Rape? The howling of the wind and the painful shriek of a woman pierced the stormy night.
