Gauravi Maheshwari
POV
🫧Happy Reading🫧
In the blazing sun of an afternoon admist the rush on road we can hear the protesting voices of women who work for my NGO ,W.O.R.D (women organizing for Rights and dignity) fighting against cruelty of women, displaced communities and corruption.
"We want justice" "we want justice", I'm speaking on my mic against a MLA son who had abducted a college going girl r****g and burning her alive.
After 5 hours of protesting a man came outside the MLA office and says to me "we want to talk to your leader and settle this matter" after hearing that my blood just boiled and i says "firstly mister there is no leader between us, we are equals fighting against the criminals, like the one you're hiding and secondly there is nothing for settlement, an innocent 19 yrs old girl just lost her life and for what because some monsters like Akash Thakur were roaming around free so go tell your MLA that we want his beloved son inside jail rotting or even better to get a death penalty".
After speaking in such loud voice my face had been turned red, but the fire inside me to get justice for that girl didn’t subsidies a bit, then the MLA's man spoke " look we all know that its not good for you guys especially you Gauravi, because of elections you're trying to pressurize us but remember that after winning it we will come after you."
Keeping my chin up I replied "Do you really think i get scared of this, you know it very well when i speak the whole country listens, so don't give this s**t, Understood Sir". I tell him with a mocking smile.
The guy after hearing my reply got furious and says "Do even know who is behind us how many big name can get involved if don't stop this feminism of yours, you will going to get vanish and no one will even care where have you gone".
"Oh i know that very well but when it comes to fight for justice especially for a woman i fear no one, toh mujhe koi fark nahi padta isme kitne bade naam involve hai". I says it with my voice going few decibels down.
Then i went a little nearer to that man and say "Oh haa, this is the last protest i was doing in front of your MLA office, so that the talk could go peacefully, but I guess shanti se baat krna pasand nhi hai aap logo ko, you guys are threatening me and my people's from the last 1 month so now take it as a warning or threat i don't care, I'm gonna make sure that Akash Thakur will be behind prison in next 7 days and that is my promise to you and I'm gonna make it happen by hook or crook, as I always say hum Gandhi ji ke vichaaro ko maante hai ,iska matlab yeh nahi hai ki hum subhash Chandra Bosh is baaton ko bhul gye hai, iykyk".
As i stood there watching that man going inside the building furiously typing something on his phone, I turned and told my co-workers
"guys lets go now we have to go and work from behind the scenes to get our girl justice" after that i said to my assistant who is also my very good friend ishita "ishi get in contact with our lawyer's team and brief them about the case and also tell them to file for non bailable warrant against Akash Thakur".
Listening to this ishita say "that i will do yaar but what about the police they’re not even registering our FIR as we don't have any evidence against Akash Thakur we just got his bracelet from the murder site".I turned towards ishita and says "you don't worry about that i know how make that man open his own mouth, just wait and watch ishita darling " I says it with smirking smile and winked at ishita.
"Sure madam but go home now you were eating, sleeping and working inside NGO from past 3 days, aunty had already called me more than 50 times". After hearing this I stopped at My track and say "Arey haa in between all this chaos i totally forgot to tell mom that I will work from NGO and my apartment for few days, it's fine i will call her now and tell her thanks for reminding me bro, you're a life saver",saying this i grinned at ishita and she just shake her head.
Between me and ishita i'm the one who always chilled, free, laughing and joking around, on the other hand ishita is always calm and collected always handling everything behind my back as when things go out of hand because of my anger she is always there to keep everything and everyone in control.
Coming in corner from where we are protesting i called my dad "hii papa, whassupp" i speaks excitedly to which my dad replies "so now you've called me bacchu to save from your mother's wrath" I cheekily smiled at that and says "you know how am i please just this time, calm mumma down and tell her I will be back in few days after finishing my work". My dad sighed and say "Why don't you call your mother and tell her everything and gudiya u know already you're again risking your life your mother is going to be very upset".
As i took the support of tree behind my back "papa you know already i want to be voice of voiceless, if you and mumma will say like that then I'm gonna get weak and i want you both to be my strength and not my weakness and if i call mumma she will start crying and i will not able to control her so papa please", I replies controlling my tears.
"Mera baccha bahut bahadur hai" to which I says "vo toh hai , koi shaq". And my father laughed and say
"no madam bilkul bhi nahi main samjha dunga mumma ko but be safe gudiya" hearing this and seeing my parents understanding a one tear rolled down My cheek and i wiped it out "I will papa you don't worry just take care of mumma and yourself, love you" to which dad also replied with a bye and love you too and cut the call.
As standing outside the MLA's office building my eyes went to the top floor and met with a man's gaze and i know who is he ,Akash Thakur.
we had a eye contact for 1 min after that somebody put blinders on glass wall but in that 1 min I was determined to give this man the worst punishment for his heinous act.
