Returning Home

René pov.  We had arrived at the hunters hut, Del had named it the lovers connection, and a big ass sign on the front side of the hut was saying exactly that, it was a big hut, or cottage, whatever you call it. Del had continued to upgrade it over the years with childrens rooms and multiple bathrooms, saying it was her little investment when they were going to retire. Silas and Amelia were tired after the plaine and the car ride, so we were all just going to eat an early dinner and go to bed. When day break came, Amelia and Silas had been up before me, Silas had taken up cooking and was enjoying how you could change taste just by adding one thing. Amelia was playing in a high chair with some fruit pieces Silas had cut out for her to try and get in her mouth. “Morning my loves” I said from the doorframe I was standing up against, Silas turned around and smiled. “Morning” he was so freaking cute with the way he smiled at me, Amelia was reaching out her small arms for me to pick up, I went to her and picked her up, she was sticky all over. “You gave her a peach?” I asked Silas while getting smacked with sticky hands. “yea, I thought she was going to be able to swallow them better, but apparently it was more fun to just squish them in her hands” He laughed, he had clearly been having a blast seeing her develop her fine motor skills. “What's for breakfast?” I asked as I went to the sink to wash the angels hands and my own face, arms and I should probably change my shirt too. “Waffles, and I have boiled some eggs” He said, still not realizing that we needed a lot more food than just that, but we had been hiring someone to get food to and from the cottage. “Morning” Del and Connor came into the kitchen, Connor was carrying two large bags with breakfast takeaway, Silas looked at it a little sad. “Love, we are werebeasts, we need a lot of food to be able to function. “Its okay Silas, those two beasts can eat the takeaway and we get to eat your freshly made food” Del smiled and walked over to give Silas a hug. “No no, I was my baby's food too” I said, a little annoyed that Del would get to eat it and I would not. “not enough for a beast to get full, so why waste it on you.” Del was teasing me and it was working. I pouted as we set the table, Del and Silas were eating his eggs and waffles and Connor and I was eating take away from the closest deli. “Here” Silas said as he put an egg and a waffle on my plate, I smiled and kissed him deeply. “I love you” I said as I looked into his golden eyes. “I love you too” Del and Connor w09as having a blast with Amelia wanting Connors food, and when she got it, it ended up on the floor. “Why do you keep giving her the food, it's a waste when it's just gonna end up on the floor” Del said to Connor, “Its okay, we just pick it up and I'll eat it later” Connor said, I was trying not to laugh. Del found it disgusting but said nothing, knowing both Connor and Silas had survived by eating things others had discarded. After breakfast Amelia was feeling tired, so we put her in a stroller and went outside. We                                                                      were sitting on the deck, looking over the lake that was around a mile away from the cottage, but down hill so it looked like it was the backyard. We were talking and laughing when a breeze got Silas' attention. He stopped talking and was focussiong out into nothing. “What's wrong love?” I asked, but got no answer. He stood up and like in a trance starting to take off. “Will you stay with Amelia?” I asked, as I followed where my mate was running, “GO” Del said, and Connor and I both took off in the direction where Silas was now gone. We caught up fast, he was half running and then stopped to sniff again. We continued that for around one hour, no cell signal but we did have a way to communicate with others so we were good. “Silas?” I asked, he was finally answering me, “home” He said, and looked at us. We continued to follow him, he moved a branch with leaves filling every inch, so it was hard to see past it. When we walked past what we saw was not what we expected. “What the…” Connor said as he walked past Silas and looked at what looked like a small village, small houses and huts. “What is this?” Connor asked Silas as he turned away from the village. “Home?” Silas more asked than stated, “This is where you are from?” Connor asked. “But there is no one here” I said, we walked around the village, finding pools of dried blood here and there, the smell of wild animals having been there but it had been awhile. We walked around into the small huts, finding nothing that could be associated with the real world. “I need to call the elders, '' I said, as I ran back to the hut leaving Connor and Silas to be in the village. I came back and found Amelia and Del playing. Amelia reached out and I picked her up. “What happened?” Del asked, I shook my head. “I need to call the elders.” I stated. I picked up the phone and dialed the number. “Elder Gillian speaking.” I heard over the phone. “Elder, its King René, we have found the leftovers of an unregistered pack” I said, trying not to sound frantic. “A newly founded one?” He asked, I could hear he was writing on the computer, probably filing while we talked. “No, an old one. And from what I know, it is where Silas was living” The phone went silent for a good few minutes, probably mind linking with the other elders. “Give us the coordinates and we will be there” He said, the line went quiet and I put down the phone. “We need to pack and grab things, I don't think we are going to stay here tonight” I said to Del, but she had been one step ahead and had packed a lot of things already. I strapped Amelia in a sling on my body and we went by guards to the location where I had left Silas and Connor behind. We arrived only around 10 minutes before the Elder council arrived by helicopter. “Elders” I greeted them as Connor, Del and Silas were setting up tents in what I would say was the plaza of the village. It was the only place big enough to hold around 60 people in one place, probably where they would have gathered to get information. “This place is definitely not new” One of the elders said. I shook my head, of what I had seen this place was an old civilization and it was not something I knew anything about, so grandfather probably did not either. “How long have you known?” The youngest and most annoying Elder asked. He is the best friend of my grandfather and was trying his best to get his family to become the rulers of the myths. “We had walked around for about 20 minuts when I sprinted to the Cottage we were staying and called Elder Gillian” I said. he huffed. “We found it today.” I clearified. “We need to speak with your mate” One of the other elders said, some of them had never met Silas or Amelia, and I could feel the discomfort from them when they had seen their eye color. Silas had heard and went to stay by my side. “Elders” He greeted. “Silas, could you show us around?” Elder Gillian asked, he was one of the two that had met Silas before. Silas shook his head, “Of Course the inbreed would not want to show us his home” The youngest elder said, “Oh, you want to see where I lived?” Silas asked, we were all a little confused. “That is what I asked” Gillian said, Silas shook his head again, “I have never seen this village, I only know it by smell” He said, all of us a little more confused. “What do you mean?” Connor joined the conversation. “I only.. “ Silas started but breathed out. “Come” he said. We went past the biggest hut there, and into the  woods a great distance. Not close enough to hear the people in the village that had joined the investigation but close enough still being able to get a hint of the smells when the wind was going through the trees. “Here” Silas said, and what we saw was not what I was expecting. “What is this?” Gillian asked. “you asked me to show you where I lived, this is my home” He said, not proud, sad or anything, just matter of factly. Gillian looked at the tiny shed that looked to have been a chicken coop one upon a time. The only thing that had been kept was the fence that was straightened and was all around the coop, sides, flooring and over, it was a prison, not being able to dig your way out, not being able to crawl over and from what I could see and smell, it was laced with toxic plant sap and was made out of silver, copper and iron. “This is where you lived, Love?” I asked, he nodded  and opened the door into the coop. Gillian, myself and the youngest Elder followed Silas into the hut. And what we saw was heart shattering. “Here” Silas pointed at the wall of the barely 3 m2 shed. And there it was, the drawing of circles and lines Silas had drawn for us were. “What is that?” The youngest Elder asked, and before either Silas or myself answered Gillian had. “It's a family tree. A family tree of the perfect Omega”
