Brandon tried to stay away, honest he did. But after two days, he found himself sitting in his idling truck in the driveway of the flip house. He rubbed at the knot on the back of his neck. He rolled his head back and forth until it cracked with a series of pops. Even that didn't help the crick that had taken residence there. It wasn't a big deal, he told himself. Lonnie was staying in his company's house. As one of the owners of the company, it was his responsibility to make sure that Lonnie was taken care of while he was watching the place. That's all it was. He cut off the diesel engine and picked up the sack of burgers and drinks and made his way around the back of the house, carefully watching his step.
