The Night I Lost Control.

This was worse than I thought. “You’re telling me… you saw me? Actually doing it?” Fred didn’t answer. His silence said enough. He didn’t even look at me. He let out a long breath and looked at me seriously. “Yeah.” “And you don't remember what she looks like?!” “I didn’t recognize her, Ezra. But she was definitely an Omega. Her scent smells different.” I stared at him. “Different how?” He hesitated. “Her scent wasn’t normal. It was… clean. Natural. Not drugged up like most Omegas at that party. And she wasn’t begging or whining like they usually do during a rut.” “Really?” “Yeah, I left. I didn't want to interrupt.” “Why didn’t you say anything earlier?” I asked. “I figured you knew what you were doing. Or that you’d remember.” He paused, then added quietly, “But the way you looked… like you didn’t even recognize me. I felt like you didn't want me to interfere. To sum it up, I didn't want to get involved. And besides, I was just coming to see you and to tell you what actually happened…” I rubbed the back of my neck. “I don’t remember. Just flashes.” I exhaled hard. “I feel like something’s wrong with me.” “What’s bothering you?” “There was this girl in my class. We bumped into each other, and I found out she's a pureblood.” “She's a what?!” Fred's expression was out of this world. He completely understood what I meant by what I said. “Yeah, surprising, isn't it?” “Wait!” He put his hands up. “A pureblood?? Are you sure you aren't mistaken?” His words made my blood chill. I swallowed. “No, I'm not.” “Bro, they are rare. We've heard about them. The pack teaches us about pureblood. They are barely around.” What Fred is trying to say is, I might be mistaken. And I know I'm definitely not. “I know telling you I saw one must have shocked the hell out of you. But I'm serious. I came across one.” I persisted. A pureblood is a werewolf born of an old, powerful bloodline. Their family line has never mixed with humans or weaker wolves. They are stronger, faster, and more dangerous than normal werewolves. They don’t need the full moon to shift, and they grow up faster too. Because they’re rare, most werewolves either fear them or want to use them for power, status, or control. That’s why purebloods usually stay hidden. If the wrong hands find them, it can lead to war, bloodshed, or worse. I went on. “I definitely smelled her on that day, all of us went to the club.” “What is she like? Is she in your major?!” “Yes, she tried to hide her scent.” He nodded. “When's your next class?” “Tomorrow.” I answered right away. “Alright.” Fred nodded once more. “Here's what we are gonna do. We have to ambush her.” “Ambush her? Why?!” “Chill. I'm not talking about kidnapping or hiding her or something. I'm suggesting we corner her in a public place to avoid any attacks. We don't know her that well. We have to be careful.” “Why should we do that? We are not even sure she's the one I slept with, at the hotel or something.” “They might be a connection.” Fred looked at me seriously, shaking his head. “Purebloods don't reveal themselves so easily. They always have a motive in doing that. Either she's got something on you or she wants to kill you.” “What?” “Purebloods are very good at hiding their scent, remember?” I heaved a long sigh. “So, what do we do?!” “What time do you have your class tomorrow?!” “Same time.” “Cool.” Fred took out his phone. I raised a brow. “What are you doing?” “Texting Monica.” He replied. “We are also having our classes at the same time as you. So, once we are done, we should be able to meet up. Monica and I would sneak out or skip class to meet up with you. I need to see who she is.” “What makes you sure they might be a connection?” “I don't know. I just have a feeling. This has never happened before, and the way you stared at her was something else.” “Do you remember anything from the club? Apart from…” “Not sure. Monica and I passed out. We saw each other the next morning in bed and went home. I got an earful from my parents. It was quite hectic. Monica should also have gotten the same from her mother as well.” “You know nothing about me, huh!” “When I called your sister and asked if you were at home, she replied. That's why I was coming all the way to see you. Even when we left the room Monica and I used, I called your phone, and it wasn't going through.” “My phone switched off. Mom and Eira said someone called them through my phone. It was the voice of a girl. I wondered how she got my password.” “She went through your phone?” “Yeah. And now I need to know who she is.” “I get that,” Fred said slowly. “But… is there more to it? Why are you really so desperate to find her?” “What do you mean?” “I mean—aside from me and Monica, you barely care about anyone. Maybe Alpha Damon on a good day. But this? This is different. You've never acted like this before.” He wasn’t wrong. How do I even explain it? I brushed past a Pureblood, and her touch burned me. And I got buried in her scent, her body, she looked a hell of a lot like the girl I saw during my major. I want to tell him. But I’ll sound insane. All this just because someone’s arm burned me? I can’t afford to get more ideas stuck in my head. I’ll tell him when I’m sure. When I knew it wasn’t just in my head. But it doesn’t matter anymore. I need to find her. I need answers. Need to know what she is? Who she is, and why the hell she’s under my skin like this. I probably sound delusional. But I know what I'm doing. “I just can't tell you yet, until I'm sure of what I'm doing.” “Okay, let's meet up tomorrow. I will talk to Monica about our plans. Got it!” “Yeah. Got it.” I planned to go back to the club with Fred. Try to find her. Maybe trace her scent. Figure out who she really was. But now I’m stuck. Should I go tonight alone, while it’s still fresh in my head? And at the club. Or wait until tomorrow, like we planned? What if... what if her scent is already gone? What if she wiped it off? Masked it? Some omegas know how to hide themselves. Especially the smart ones. The ones who don’t want to be found. What if she knew I’d come looking? What if I missed my chance? I got home. I stood at the entrance of the door, opening it.
